I have no sympathy for Strasberg, as I have no sympathy for my own favorite football team's 1st round nightmare... err, draft pick Michael Crabtree. WTH have we come to when guys think they need to redefine a system that is already out of whack and they've NEVER played in a professional game???
That just boggles my mind. Get on the damn field and prove you're worth it! Lordlovaduck, this ish pisses me off!

The agents, in this case Boras, have been able to create way to much power for themselves. We all know Strausburg is the real deal, however there are guys who have played at a very high level for years who aren't getting anywhere near the money he has already been offered.
If I was him, I would fire Boras with six hours to go and sign whatever offer was still on the table. Do you want to play ball or do you want to watch other people play.....

BTW I think the baseball owners to install a money cap by position for rookies....what I mean by that is:
1. the most a pitcher could sign for is 10 million
2. infield 6 million
3. outfield 7 million.......etc.

Doesn't it bother these guys that we are in the midst of a recession and a lot of people are hurting? Or maybe it is all an illusion. Seems like major league attendance hasn't suffered much.

The NBA has it right. Give rookies a pre-determined contract for 2-3 years and then let them make the big $$ after their real worth has been proven.

I agree totally. Boras is a pain in the butt to deal with.

Scott Boras is a real JERK. If the MLB owners/manager would (jointly) agree and refuse to deal with any player that he represented, this yo-yo would be parking cars in at the nearest celebrity event. I have heard that several owners have already made it clear that they do not want to have anything to do with the JERK.

Oh boy, the Crabtree situation is f'ed up on so many levels, don't get me started. As for Strasburg, not only should he take what is offered but the Nats are themselves gambling as very few pitchers taken so high actually pan out.
However, it's about the market, so we're all communists for discussing this issue.
Do svidaniya, comrades!
mlb channel is reporting that the Nats and Strasburg came to an agreement just under the wire for an estimated $15M

Upon further review, that's not bad considering Boras was behind this. Not nearly as high as the rumors of 25 to 50 mil
