I just read on the Rockies website that Jordan Pacheco will be attending spring training with the Rox. It will be his first big league spring training. He is one of four catchers in the Rockies camp that are non-roster invitees.
Congrats, Jordan!

He's not gonna make the big league club, but it is great for exposure and for future seasons.
My guess is that he'll end up starting at Double A.
The Rockies have Chris Ianetta and Miguel Olivo as their starter and back-up.
Top prospect Wilin Rosario most likely be at Triple A. Paul Lo Duca also has an invite. I'm not sure if he would accept being assigned to Colorado Springs. Paul Phillips also has a non-roster invite. One of those two would be the other guy at Triple A.
That would leave either Double A or High A for Jordan, depeding on what they do with Rosario. I'm sure they want both guys to get as much PT as possible.
Let's hope that Jordan impresses the Rockies' brass with this opportunity.
Jordan has only been playing catcher for a couple of years - still needs some seasoning. But he's got an incredible stick. He dominated single A pitching - he was the all star catcher and led the league or was very near the top of league in batting average. Also displayed good power. It's a shame he didn't play that position in high school or even in college. Oh well, he's still making great progress. He's probably a couple more solid years from making knocking down some doors at the major league level. He's got a ton of potential.

My oldest son(11yr) attended a catchers clinic with Jordan about a month ago. I came away very impressed with him. He is a class act!!!
