I was a little worried about this game. I hate all the talk about streaks. 22 in a row blah blah blah, this better not be the team to break the streak blah blah blah. Those kind of streaks never last forever so I'm kind of glad it's over so the pressure is off the team to keep it going. I was also worried that the team had not played a game for over a week. They always seem to do better when they are in a regular rhythm of playing a couple of games a week.

Ok enough excuses - The aggies came to play and definitely wanted it more. Unfortunately when the Lobos did get open, the shots just didn't fall. Lobos also allowed too many uncontested layups (on transition). Dionne had the ball just taken out of her hands under the basket a few times which seemed to take the team by surprise.

The aggies were extremely aggressive. Now being aggressive in basketball is good, but I think there were times they went a little too far (and got away with it a few times) I saw one of them grab Dionne by both shoulders and just push her away. (no foul) When #12 took Amy down - that was a cheap shot plain and simple. It was not an ordinary foul where 2 players get tangled up, it was not hard nosed defense, it was deliberate and it was right in front of all the Lobo fans and bench.

The good news is that there were lots of Lobo fans there and we were loud and vocal and kept cheering them on to the end. We'll get them in the Pit.

Go Lobos!!

Thanks for the recap.

Aggie cheap shot artists, eh? Typical.

What was said on the radio? Did anyone else see it? Was it just my cherry colored glasses?

I did not see that particular play - too many people in the house. But I bet #12 gets a real warm welcome in the Pit (sarcasm/off).

Thanks for the recap. First hand conveyance is always best. Like you said, "bound to happen" sooner or later. While the officiating was not good, it is clear that the Aggies were more prepared to play and win. Props to them - it's always better when your big rival is a good team.

It was a few years ago when the Aggies took the Lobos to three overtimes down there. If I recall, the Lobos ended up having a pretty good season that year. Also, nobody can be perfect - this year's national champ in football will have lost a "gimme" game during the regular season. That's sports.

That happened last year....the Aggies have been improving under their new HC Spence. They'll be a contender in the WAC this year; mark my words!!!

As for the game, I'm disappointed in the loss but I'm forever hopeful regarding this team! We're very very young and will have ups-and-downs this season but I do think the losses will help them grow up. And, after watching Cal whip on Vanderbilt who'd just come off a win over Duke, I'm really upbeat about the potential we have on our team!!! :D

GO LOBOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

I remember that game and if my memory serves me well (which it doesn't always) we followed that with a nice blowout in the Pit.
