IF the Lobos were to win the MWCT, what kind of seed would the Lobos be looking at? And, would they be in one of the play in games due to the RPI and SOS? I'm thinking a 11-13 seed.
Also, I'm bored at work and know there is still a long ways to go.

Prob 11 or 12

I'd say they would probably be an 11 or 12. The MWC is too good of an RPI conference to push all the way down to a 13. They would probably be one of the 12 seeds that's not a play-in game.

Cannot be in a play-in game if you win the tourney guys. Unless we are a 16 seed.

I think if we win out, we will be one of the hotter teams in the country with 6 consecutive wins; two of which were against top ten teams. That's a pretty good resume if you ask me, and deserving of a higher than 11 or 12 seed.

No guarantee we'll get a win over BYU and/or SDSU in the tourney; that's why you play the game. Though I can see the likelihood of your scenario being achieved.
But still, the selection committee will look at 11 losses and our SOS and those two things alone will kill our chances of a single-digit seed. Even a 10 is probably already out of the question if we make it into the tourney.

Gee, I hope we beat Air Force on Saturday and Reese has a great game and his family cries and the fans cry and even tough as nails Reese gets the sniffles. ..... Or did I miss the game somehow and we are already about to start the Vegas Invite? Or did we suddenly forget how much trouble we had (at least twice) with Air Force last year when we had a 30-win team??

And as fans it's fun to speculate.
I will never understand why people get so bent out of shape when fans "look ahead" and "speculate".
I doubt anyone in here is running wind sprints and practicing free throws before this Saturday game. It is the coaches and the player’s responsibility to plan and prepare for the next game, not the fans.
The role of the fan is to follow, love, cheer, cry, support, and DREAM on behalf of your team! If Altakaia wants to dream of a National Title (http://thelobolair.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26769) and if Swed wants to speculate on a seeding, then so be it.
I will be honest; I was a little bummed after watching the Lobos lose 4 games in a row. Perhaps I had been spoiled by the previous seasons and my expectations were too high, maybe I should just enjoy watching these young players develop and seeing DG in Lobo uniform for his final season.
But after last night something changed….I’m dreaming again! Sure we have to beat AF (no easy task, just ask CSU), but last night I saw flashes of a very special team, a team that can win the MWC tourney and a team can make some noise in the Big Dance!!!!!
Am I looking past AF? Hell yes I am…and until Saturday afternoon it will remain that way!

i agree with this 100% and am extremely guilty of this myself. But sometimes, fans dreams turn into expectations and when expectations aren't met (even the unfair expectations), then negativity follows and that leads to all kind of trouble. That was very Yoda of me finding a way for dreams to lead to the dark side and what not.

11 Seed, then we upset 6th seeded UCLA to advance to 2nd round against #3 seed Florida. They are overated and we upset them too, making the sweet 16 where we face a tough 3 seed in Notre Dame...but I don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves so, yeah 11 seed.

8 or 9...Probably a 9. But that doesnt matter since they play each other

Seeing how the MWC tournament is probably going to entail wins over UNLV(26) or CSU(46), BYU(3) and SDSU(4), I'd assume that our RPI would be in pretty good shape at that point. If we win those three games in row I'd say our RPI ends up somewhere in the low 40's and the committe gives us a 9 or 10 seed.

I would much rather have a 12 or 11 seed that anywhere between 7-10. Sets you up better for run to the sweet 16.

Is this a new rule? Final at larges are usually no lower than 12 seeds. At large teams are good teams with solid RPI's. The play in games are almost always from bottom of the barrel conference tournament winners.

Yes, new rule with the new format. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the final 4 at large teams will be playing against eachother, and the final 4 auto-qualifiers will as well, or something like that....
Seeds could vary, but winners of those games (at large) will most likely be 11 or 12 seed depending on what the committee decides.

Yep. Since the field is expanding.

I chuckle at times like this simply because I open this mornings paper here in OKC and see a HUGE article on how OSU is still on the bubble to go to the NCAA. They are 18-11, about as below average as can be, 6-8 in the Big 12, no real quality wins,,, I think it is funny. Now I am not saying UNM shoul dbe on the bubble but it is funny how "experts" have them so far off the field you cannot see them yet a very below average OSU team is right there.

lol, now that might be a first, to have to play two separate 3 seeds in the same bracket.
"If" we did win the MWC, by beating a top 50 rpi and possibly 2 top 10 rpi teams, I would think that would jump us to a 9-11 seed.

Newsflash: We ARE on the bubble. http://www.rpiforecast.com/bracket.html
If we beat AF, CSU and BYU (which isn't just wild dreaming with what we've seen from our team), and lose to SDSU in a close game, our numbers aren't as bad as it looks. Remember -- we are in the fourth best conference. We will have a bit of a perception problem with wins over BYU without Davies but that can be overcome vs. SDSU. We certainly need things to go our way (no conf. champ huge upsets, other bubble teams losing), but we are not dead. We may become team #68.
Heck, allowing for a moment to think beyond the AFA game (nothing wrong with that as long as you put it in perspective, which is why some of us preach taking it one game at a time) I'd be tickled with a #12 seeding. #12s sneak past #5s nearly every year, and then they've got a #4 (and sometimes a #13) sitting there waiting for them. #9 blows because even if you beat the #8, next up is ALWAYS the #1 seed in your region.
Not that I don't want to go up against the best, but I'd rather do it with a few wins under our belt, just like playing SDSU in the Saturday in Vegas game is WAY more desirable than playing them Friday. Just sayin'...

yep on the outside looking in, but in the vicinity!
They have WA St. (73), NE (66) and MN (67) with RPI's right near ours. Tells me we have a very legit shot if we can just keep winning games.
Also, showing Gonzaga as auto bid, while they may not win that title and have a 69 rpi putting them in our category.
Looking at the field, if we can rip off 3 straight games, we have a very legit shot. Gotta take care of AF tomorrow and do it big like up in CO Springs.

I can't see it highier then a 10 personally I'd put you at an 11 which isn't a bad seed at all to make noise with but alot of the NCAA is matchup oreinted and less about seeding.

There is a first for everything when you are looking ahead!
I think the double 3 seed bracket has something to do with field expansion, and considerable lack of reasearch on my part. LOL
