Curtis is saying Philly couldn't stop smiling that night! JR talked to him about Kansas. Curtis says he sees he and McDonald playing in the backcourt for the Lobos! Curtis is so excited! I love listening to him, he is so psyched to be playing for the Lobos and he feels Phillip will come to UNM. He said Phil was going to call him as soon as new knew where he was going, so Stig made him promise to call Stig when Phil calls him.
He just called NM his second home already.
Said his gut is telling him the Philly will come to New Mexico!!! Im feeling it!

I agree! I recently visited his personal webpage and by the looks of it, he is VERY excited to be a LOBO! It feels great knowing our recruits really want to be here. I haven't talked to him....but he seems like he knows NM is his 2nd home.:>

It helps having Coach Walker, Neal, Miller, Coach Dominguez, and of Course Coach Alford. UNM has one of the best coaching staffs in College Basketball from top to bottom!

BTW, Stigs if you're out there...great job. You're obviously one of few (along with Iliana) of the local press that really gets it and delivers. Thanks for getting recruits on the show and bringing us up to date Lobo news!!!!

I think Stigs by far does the best job out there top to bottom. His interviews are right up there with Jim Rome. Like him or hate him Jim Rome is a great interviewer!

It's a myspace page. I have not communicated with him yet since I don't want to overwhelm him with my excitement and enthusiam! I just like to look at it. Heck...I like to look at lot of past, current, and future LOBOS!

Im going to quote myself here and add that I may do so since I am considered "media". I still have to follow very strict rules etc. I was able to get his impressions on UNM and a little more for a story but chose to just give some quotes.

That's another reason! Goodpoint RPS! We all have to wait until the actual LOI is signed.
I am sure you know this...but even though we consider ourselves as fans. The NCAA considers us as boosters. So avoid with communicating via this avenue.
That is why I am not gonna post a link...just to be on the safe side.

I think we need to increase our presence as a fan-base and show the next vistor a more packed PIT for the shirts&skins game. I think the NMSU game got fans wilded up to party and tailgate.....I think the Sacramento St. game is gonna be more civil and will increase attendence for that scrimmage.

Good points, guys. We have to be super careful with recruits until they sign an NLI. We can all be considered boosters and any contact with a recruit is dangerous. As RPS says, he's considered media and can have contact. The rest of us just have to rely on the great work of RPS.

With the early sigining day in Nov. can a player sign, ask for a release and back out until the official signing day?
If I understand your question, if a recruit signs in November but changes his mind later on, essentially, he's screwed. Only if the institution releases him can he go elsewhere other than to a junior college.

Technically, a player can always ask for a release from a NLI, but they need a heck of an excuse. A signed NLI is binding, no matter if it's in November or February (think that's when the late signing period is). Maybe April....I don't know!

The difference being with the UK fiasco...Hamga hadn't committed yet! UNM fans have far more intelligence than UK fans do!

Stigs asked him to give him a timetable, and Philly gave him the "well, I've got Oregon on the 5th of October and then I'll decide" line, so Stigs says "You're going to make Lobo fans wait a month before deciding?" and Philly responds with "Nah, I might decide much sooner than that!" Terrance (his bro) follows up with "He may have something up his sleeve..."
I don't want to get too excited, but I'm feeling it!

Thanks Bloo! I missed Phillip's part of the interview trying to get on the g-d 770 live feed. I can't get 770 here in Santa Fe (but I'll bet Yakka could have listened in Tucson), so I tried to get online. Everytime I try to, it takes forever until it will finally open the window for the live feed.
After the scrimmage, I was feeling pretty good, and after the interview, I am cautiously optimistic...and feeling a tingling of possible excitement. Or it might be the green chile I had last night...

Curtis and Phillip were on the Channel 13 sports segment yesterday evening (5:30 pm broadcast) -- Van Tate interviewed both guys and it's pretty obvious that Curtis is trying his best to sell the program to Phillip. FYI - Curtis seems like a real character.....I have a feeling we already know who's going to be the future prankster on the team (hopefully Coach A has a good sense of humor...LOL). As for Phillip, he was directly asked where UNM sits on his list and he was slightly reluctant but did say after his visit that UNM is right up there (never did say in "1st position" -- maybe that'll be the case after the coaching staff meet with him and his family later today). :D

OK Bloo, that did it. I usually try to temper my excitement until the NLI is in. You pushed me over the edge. I am getting excited about this. If it don't happen, I may chop off one of those big ears of yours and stuff it in the other side! :box:Afun):Afun):Afun)

I think JP brought this up earlier, but I'm thinking he takes his Kansas visit and cancels the others...making a commitment not long after that.
It's tough going up against Kansas.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are a couple of twists to this one before it's over.
This is the best I've felt in two months. I think what Curtis said on the radio and he reaction at the Pit said a lot for me.

Yes there are twisters in Kansas, but they won't both PM since he'll be in NM.:D
