What does his coaching tree look like? Projections on the coordinators? What style of O and D does he prefer? I was a junior in HS the last time he coached and I didn't pay attention to Notre Dame. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Here's an article from way back when Davie was hired by Notre Dame as DC.

I like the "less is more" defensive thought process they talked about in that article!

So he's a Defensive guy first and foremost, does that leave the door open for Philips or Mazzone?

According to this wikipedia link, while he was head coach at Notre Dame, they ran a 4-3 base defense and "Option" offensive scheme.

Good lord, please tell me that we aren't going back to the 4-3....I think the reason we can't play this defense has been covered....

The option was kind of an ND tradition at that time. I don't know that that means he'll run option here. I'm thinking that, knowing the landscape of college football now, he wouldn't run it here, but we'll see.
