Last night. You don't see that very often. She took a beating. It looked pretty bad. I hope she's ok.

When a champ gets beat up like Holly apparently did, its a sign that iits time to get out. I really hope she's in a good financial position to get out of the sport an minimize any further damage. Boxing is a brutal (the most brutal of mainstream sports) sport and champions that have been accustomed to leveraging their superior reflexes to win are particularly susceptible to a lot of damage once those reflexes dull (see Muhammed Ali) as habits based on the superior reflexes die hard.

I think she's been spending more time training for MMA, right? Maybe that's part of the reason.
I agree, going from boxing to MMA then back to Boxing cant help any.

I love boxing. I wish it was more popular now. But I still believe it will come back in a few years. I personally enjoy it 5 times more than mma. That being said, I can't watch women's boxing. Not only is not as entertaining, but also because its hard to see women get beat up. Ch 7 news showed some highlights of Holly being rocked last night and I had to close my eyes. Gruesome photo of Holly in the journal this morning. Good luck Holly, whatever you decide to do

Holly is a classic stand up boxer in the Sugar Ray Leonard style. I have really admired her love for the sport and how she became an ambassador for ABQ and all of New Mexico. I am very sad to hear she lost so decisively last night. I agree that the MMA thing might have been detrimental to her boxing career.

Great write up, as always, by Cozzone with pictures if anyone wants a recap. Sounds like she totally abandoned her gameplan and tried to fight Mathis' fight. Fresquez is done without Holm and her belts. Per the contract there will be a rematch here in Albuquerque in 90 days.
