Well, sort of.


On the internet, so long as the meaning comes through clearly, spelling, grammar, etc. are minor. They are not minor in real life, so if any of you are job hunting, it’s a good idea to check your submissions, Facebook pages, LinkedIn data, etc., or even to have others review what you are about to send. This last is a good idea since most people are really bad at proof-reading their own stuff. I know I am. And that’s one reason to care about this stuff even on the net. If you make a habit of checking, you are less likely to make mistakes where and when it matters.

To illustrate this point, look at this article on recruiters’ checking out LinkedIn listings for prospective employees.
