Didn't want to post in the main forum, because who knows what will transpire in the next 4 years, but there's a kid at my gym that can shoot lights out from 3 and he's 5 foot nothing. He just finished his 8th grade year, so he has a long ways to go, but his range is stepping inside half-court and on his makes, he does not even touch rim. He's as pure a shooter as I've ever seen at our gym from long range, and we've had several high level D1 MBB players play there.

His dad was a former Dallas Mavericks assistant, Charlie Parker and his son's name is Chris. He reminded me of the way coach Alford shot the long ball in college with the precision and accuracy. This kid will be a legit 3 point assasin in college, the only question, will he grow to be at least 6' or close enough to be an effective D1 guard? He's also quick enough to get by people and get to the basket. Again, how will this develop over the next 4 years as he grows and matures?

Here's his dad's bio if you're not familiar with him:

My guess is, once this kid hits his growth spurt, he'll be in the AAU circuit. Not sure what the min age it out there?

With his dad being a former NBA and college HC, I can only imagine how good he can get in the next 4 years??? My guess, with his diminuitive size now, he's probably flying WAY under the radar.

Post this in the main too and tell about the former D1 players who play at your gym.

I'd rather not. Right now, this kid is tiny and may not ever amount to a recruitable D1 athlete, but he has a phenomenal outside shot.

2 other kids from the gym are frosh at TX this year, Prince Ibeh and Demarcus Holland and I've played against and guarded both of them. Both need work to be contributors for a TX team.

Outside of that, most of the kids that come through actually get schollies on the football side of things. We had a DB from the St. Louis Rams that came back to play some pick-up games this summer, but I didn't ask his name.

Most of the "ultra competitive" games happen during winter break and during the summer when school is out or the pro season has not yet started.

I'll post in here if I think I see a prospect that is promising. I think I posted about Prince Ibeh his soph season and it had been mentioned UNM aimed higher than him...
