Does Terrance Hatton have any eligibility left? He claims he beat Philly in a 1:1 game, 10-7. Philly said that his brother cheated, head-butted him, and basically played football on the court. That's the only reason he won.

Mike from Albuquerque: What type of influence did JR Giddens have on you? Which way was he tugging?. What's the word going around in Houston about UNM?

Philly: We've got 2 AAU teams coming down to UNM. My coach Walker is there, I'm real comfortable with him, that's a good situation for me, that's why I chose to come down there. He said JR told him there's more structure over there (Kansas). Here they let you do your thing more. JR told him of the differences between the two. He doesn't regret coming to UNM.

Terrance: Lot of people in Houston feel that UNM has a top 5 recruiting class in the nation (he likes the hyperbole a bit, me thinks).

Hicks: It's a big advantage bringing a lot of guys in together. And they can all play right away. In a few years that will be a big advantage.

Philly just called again. Asked about whether Philly will influence some of his younger AAU teammates to head out to UNM. Philly said that he hoped so. He hoped that Jamaal, Joey Brooks, and Eric Williams would join him at UNM. Philly then told him to come to the Lobolair.Com to hang out. He even spelled out L-o-b-o-l-a-i-r for him. Mike, I came back to the show after Philly left and I saw the same thing you just reported:

The thing that struck me about this list is that Houston is averaging around 40 D1 players per senior class the past couple of years. As he was going thru his list of guys and mentioning where the players had committed, somewhere in the top 30-35 he mentioned a couple of guys who had committed to TCU. This gives you some perspective on where we stand in the Houston recruiting pecking order. SA and Walker aren't simply recruiting Houston, they're recruiting the cream of the crop.

BTW, Hicks mentioned that Turner had gone on an unofficial visit to Nebraska this past weekend and that he was scheduled to unofficially visit another school (A&M?) this weekend.

The other thing that caught my attention was when one of the callers asked about Curtis Dennis (or is that Dennis Curtis - double first names kill me in terms of remembering the order). Philly said something funny about Dennis (I didn't hear the comment). He said that he went to the BB scrimmage before the football game and that the fans started chanting "Thank you Curtis" and "We want Philly". He said that listening to those chants, he felt like he wanted to do something right then. BTW, if you missed the live interview, Hicks has an archive of past interviews on the same website.

Defintely Garish. Coach O loves competition...he's more energetic than ever. I remember what Fran Did! Coach will respond to you...right now the coaching staff is out recruiting on the road for the class of 09 and has seen a lot of thier recruiting targets and talked to them about coming to UOFA!
