I took these shots when I was a sophomore in high school back in '72. Some of you may have already seen them -- I posted them on another site a few months back.

See if you can name the opponent and any of the LOBOS.

BTW, I believe this was Coach King's last season.

No weightlifting back in those days. The players are much skinnier in the legs, arms, chest, etc.. than today's players. Also the supplemental sports nutrients weren't as readily available back in the day.

I'm going to go out on a limb here. I don't even know when these shots were taken. Would 54 be Paul "Cru-zie" (sorry about the name mangling, but that is how it is pronounced)?

Remus,

I thought of Paul Kruse as well.

Yes, that is Paul Kruse. I looked it up in an old media guide. They won a WAC championship in 73-74. I don't know who #22 is shooting the free throw. He's wearing the same number as a guy named Pat King.

Can anybody post the Monday, January 4, 1988 Albq Journal articles on the Lobos victory over #1 Arizona. I don't have an online sub with the Journal.

Sorry, I had the year wrong. It's actually 1972. I believe the guy shooting the freethrow #22 is Harold Little, but I could be wrong.

And 54 is indeed, Paul Kruse.

I'm pretty sure #14 is the late Gabe Nava.

And no doubt, #24 is Tommy Roberts.

I can't pick them out, but weren't Bob Toppert and Bill (?) Battle on this squad? I never saw these games on TV or in the flesh, but I did used to listen to them on KOB from my home in Texas.

I see empty chairbacks is not just a recent phenomenon.

:Afun):Afun) Don't let Mark Smith see that picture. He may try to revise historical attendance records.

And folks think that Chairbacks are empty cause they're owned by older people who don't have the energy to show up to every game. What was the excuse back then?

I'm pretty sure Battle was on the squad back then, but I think Toppert could have abeen a little later - though he may have been a Freshmen in 72-73. (I'm too tired to look it up.)
