Just wanted to get a discussion going on whether you believe the US should provide National Healthcare for all Americans? If you have any input about the subject, please feel free.

I've heard enough horror stories from Canadians and EUers on socialized healthcare,,,bad , bad idea, Canada is now changing back to pay for care, better doctors, competitive market growing up north, it don't work, kills people.

i live south of the border and talk to tons of snowbirds, they are called, flock down here every winter.

why is this on our board?

You didn't mention the free health care in Cuba, which Fidel wouldn't use himself when he needed medical care. I believe he went to France to get better health care.

I'll not bore you with my long opinion, but as a physician I've had much experience with our system. Everyone agrees that something needs to be changed in our medical care, but total nationalization would be sheer madness, particularly since both Canada and England are beginning to reintroduce some degree of choice and competition into their systems. If one needs any evidence that socialized medicine is not a viable option, just look at Medicare, whose expenditures will soon threaten to bankrupt the country and poses a much more difficult dilemma than does Social Security.
