PLEASE! Thanks.:bighug
I missed about the first 5 mins of it.
After I get some things done this evening, I'll summarize the interview for you. As a tease, he was extremely excited to be here and said he wished he was back here right now.:bighug

We at LoboLair will have none of that! :look
Another fine interview by Scott, asking great questions and making it easy for Nate to talk about his recruiting trip and other matters. First of all, Nate sounds like a fine young man. He called Scott, "sir" several times. As I remember the interview here is the summary.
He made an overly hasty commit to Minnesota and soon began regretting that decision. When he reopened the recruiting process, UNM was the first school to contact him. The opportunity to play with four super players who had already committed and with a great coach like Alford was too good an opportunity to pass up. He also was real comfortable with Coach Walker and also mentioned Coach Neal and the NBA experience both he and Alford have.
He considers himself a point guard but essentially he is a player and can fill whatever role is required of him. He loves an up and down game and says his greatest strength is in seeing the floor and setting up his teammates to get easy baskets. When a team lays off him he can shoot from distance, If his team needs scoring he can break down his defender and penetrate.
What impressed him most about his visit? He had so much fun that he wished he was back here now. He loved the enthusiasm that people had for Lobo basketball. He said that when he was out at a restaurant people came up to him and talked Lobo hoops. He then said that people were chanting "Thank you, Nate" at the S/s scrimmage. "It was crazy, the excitement here."
He did not feel pressured by the staff to sign, even knowing that there was only one scholarship available. He was told to take his time and that he was the guy the staff wanted. He had heard from Tennessee and many other schools but this was the right choice. A year ago kids wouldn't seriously look at UNM but with this staff and now this recruiting class the top players will be considering coming here. He looks at the recruiting services and sees underclassmen listing UNM among their favorites.
He knows of all the fellow recruits coming in and says they're all hard workers who want what he wants, "a championship." He played on the same team in Dallas last year with Will Brown, whom he described as "one goofy guy," so he had great fun with him this past weekend. Nate's father is doing some type of contract work and had moved away from the Dallas area, This year Nate is staying with his uncle in Memphis, where he's attending Hamilton High (for those who want to follow his season). He was asked whether he is fearful of playing time because of all the talent coming in. He wasn't worried. Said that UNM was losing four guards and had only Dairese coming back. He felt that hard work in the practices would determine who played. Felt confident he could contribute from the start. He ended the interview by saying, "Go Lobos."
Again, it sounded like UNM landed someone who will be an excellent representative of the university.

Thank you for the summary Dr. M.
Garth sounds exactly like the type of player UNM is blessed to get. He sounds like he really has it together. I can't wait to see him suit up in a Lobo uni. Go Nate, Go Lobos!

Thanks, Doc! I only caught the end. But he did sound like a well-spoken young man. And I loved that he ended the interview with "Go Lobos!"

Nice summary! I talked to nate at the skins game, and told me he can't wait to play for us. His video's sum it all up. This guy can play! Can't wait to see him bomb away next season. Like i said , this kid has vision. Go Lobos......................................
Excellent contribution Dr. M. Nate will be a great rep for the program - maybe he'll also gain some All-Academic honors in additon to his contributions on the hardcourt. Great to see this guy join our program.
It's dramatic to hear about the turnaround in the perception of the program by High School recruits. Top recruits are interested in the program now - that's some sweet music.
Thanks again for the write-up. And also a special thanks to Stigs for the interview.
