Quinnipiac has been amazing. Hope they can hold on.
Yes!! Nailed 2 FTs to go up by 7 with 10 seconds. That should do it.
Quinnipiac 85 Miami 78. Q put on a shooting clinic -- 15-26 on 3-pointers. Every time Miami would cut it to one possession, they just went down and hit the answer to keep them at bay.
Wonder how many people are asking Siri where Quinnipiac is?

5 PAC 12 teams in sweet 16.
The Sweet Sixteen is all chalk except 5-seed Ohio State, 10-seed Oregon, and 12-seed Quinnipiac. Only Kentucky, Duke, Miami, and Kansas State lost at home. (Kansas State lost to 2-seed Stanford.)
UCLA has looked good, but their next opponent (UConn) will be a bit more of a challenge. UConn's biggest hurdle will probably be Baylor in the semi-finals.
The tournament is getting pretty pathetic the way they are setting up teams to win. Looks like they want Baylor to be this years champion. Didn't even throw the dogs a bone this year.
The women's competitiveness gets worse each year. Compare the W to the M and the concentration of power in the top women's teams is much greater. I see no indication it will improve--or that the powers that be want it to improve. Sad.
Interesting on Kelly saying the only reason he left Gonzaga

I watch Washington in Seattle play this year. Sad to see Kelsey Plum lose. A great player.
Any team has a chance to beat UCONN?
Team that might have best shot at knocking off UCONN probably Baylor. Then maybe ND.
Oregon is looking good vs Maryland. On ESPN right now. Kelly Graves former Lobo basketball player is head coach at Oregon.
65-55 Oregon ahead 4th quarter.
Did not realize game was on that early. Only reason I did not think Oregon at this point is their youth. Very good talent Kelly has recruited there, starting 3 freshmen and a soph. Talent wise they have a great shot at some final fours and possible championship. A young team kinda like Maryland had when they won NC a few years ago, but did not win another with the same group. Looks like, unless UCLA upsets UCONN, Oregon will play Auriemma's group Monday.
Kelly's freshmen class. One of them, Jayde Woods, transferred to TCU in January.

Great game. This is good for MW basketball. We (MW teams) play a lot of PAC 12 teams in OOC. Playing tough teams will make us better as a conference.
And two from across the ocean Kelly has signed for next season. Will be a serious national contender the next few years if all stay healthy.

I wonder if Krebs ever had a "realistic" shot at Graves when Flan retired? I think Gonzaga gave him a big raise once the UNM job became open. Imagine, if we were able to get him to UNM from Gonzaga? Maybe another S16 or elite 8 by now???
At least now, it feels the program is finally moving forward again and about to make some major strides. Something to look forward to. Kelly is a hell of a coach, that's for sure.
Kelly was who several of us wanted when Flan stepped down, but Gonzaga gave him a big raise at that point. Plus his wife's family in Washington area. I don't know if he would have been able to recruit to the level he has at Oregon(a previous article I posted mentions that is the only reason he left Gonzaga)but I do think it would have taken a big step up. The way he likes to play and coaches it is easy to be a fan of his.
UCLA starts with 9-2 lead, but now UCONN on 17-2 run for 8 point lead
run up to 35-11 about the last 10 minutes of game time
UCONN was up 20, UCLA cuts it to 13 going into 4th. The juniors on UCLA was a top tanked class that year. Their quickness at times has caused a few problems.
UCLA's junior class recruiting. Caldwell has transferred to Texas Tech

Their incoming freshmen, and it sounds like Amaya leaning that way pretty heavily for 2018

Connecticut's 2017 class

plus this transfer from Duke that will be eligible

and a 6'2 transfer from Kentucky
Quinnipiac cinderella run over, South Carolina in a romp
Florida St knocks Oregon St out of tourney
BTW, back to Oregon. Freshman PG Sabrina Ionescu had 4 triple doubles this year. Missed a few games with I think a broken thumb
Stanford by one over ND. A UCONN win over Oregon tomorrow will have the Samuelson sisters going against each other.
Mississippi State beat Baylor in OT. Point guard Morgan William had 41 points and 0 turnovers. I guess you CAN win with a small guard. (She's listed as 5-5, but if she's 5-5, I'm 6-6.)
