Interesting. I kind of like the idea especially with the resurgence of Lobo BB. Now I know we are not a "mid-major" according to Wikipedia :) but this might be nice in the MWC as a"non-Power 6" conference. Think of extra games against Nevada, SDSU or whoever is at the top. Those extra games, regardless of winning or losing, would help our RPI rather than playing the bottom teams (and losing to AF as we seem to do a lot). A couple of extra wins towards the end of the season but prior to the MWC Tournament might be the difference between an at-large and no berth at all. I'll have to mull this over.

I love it, but I like my solution better: Put 256 teams in the final tournament. That's only two more rounds. Cut out the conference tournaments or let the final tournament go one week longer.

Interesting idea. I think the MWC has shown that we can pull in favorable seeds and get multiple teams in the tourney when we are at our best. MWC has been down overall the past few seasons but it does feel like a resurgence is on the horizon. With Nevada a surefire top 10 team in the preseason as long as they don't completely **** the bed that will greatly benefit the rest of the conference. MWC already does some selective scheduling based on the previous years finish that may or may not be helpful to teams.

I like from a fan perspective and just watching (hopefully) the Lobos play more good games. But if all the conferences did this...the results would be the same eventually. I think 1 conference can get away with this gimmick but it dilutes once everyone does it.
My position as a moderator adds no validity to my opinions. I am a fan just like you and as such when I express a view it represents me and me alone and carries no more weight than any other fan other than the fact that I am always right. (Like everyone else.)
