Highlights of South Plains championship victory. Lots of Maurice's scores plus the team's wacky victory dance. Fun video.

My phone is on it's last legs and I can't seem to paste the link properly. Maybe someone else can post it.

Not sure why he didn’t play in the semi-finals, and didn’t start in the finals.

Read back in this thread. Got two techs in the quarters (I think it was), so was suspended for the semi and didn't start last night.

Isaiah is very talented. He also appears to fit Weir's game to a T. Previous listings have him at 6'10 which he looks as if he is, but I don't think he is 240, I am thinking 15 or 20 lbs less.

He needs some weight. Southern Idaho didn't have anyone that could bang with him. That changes June 1.

That solid freshman is now the one who's a Lobo. Go Keith McGee.

I wish him luck. The players that we have are the ones that want to be here and that's the way that it should be.

At least we didn't end up empty handed from the South Plains championship run. McGee was a great pickup for us.

Just curious why we didn't sign him in the fall like we did with Agee?

Funny part is, this is the 2nd post player that was committed or even actually signed with UNM that is now with Memphis. (Mike Parks former Neal recruit)

Better make sure our next post recruits get signed before Penny comes sniffing around, lol.

Oh well, either way, we're going to have a stacked team and apparently Maurice was not up to competing against Bragg everyday in practice.

Didn't visit or commit until after the fall signing period was over. Looks like it was by design all along to be a spring recruit. Just happened to commit to UNM in December after visiting, but we saw how firm that ended up being.

I was a little surprised our staff was caught off guard on this one? Seems they would have been aware he was waivering? I still go back to Weir's post season presser referring to revisiting recruits to make sure they are all in and thinking this was a reference to Maurice looking back at it after the fact?

Just glad to have Bragg and hopefully, he works his butt off to be the full player he can be. He only has 1 1/2 years, but he can work himself into an NBA contract with hard work.

With bringing in Bragg and 2 JC bigs and "IF" VJ blows up like I expect him to, he will only be here 2 years and will most likely declare for the draft after his Jr year, if he puts up the #'s he's capable of putting up. We need to get some post players for 2019 that will be here at least 2 years, but preferably 4 years. Hopefully, Vlad will develop into a really solid post player.

This reminds me of the whole jarion Henry escapade several years ago. Nothing against Maurice, but I’m not too upset at the way things worked out. I’d much rather have players that want to be Lobos and are buying into Weir’s methodology and are committed to that.if not, that’s ok, Weir will find players that do.

That's actually a pretty good analogy. We ought to remember that these are 20ish year old young men who may be prone to changing their minds.

Maybe it's best we got the MVP instead of the player that got suspended from the championship semifinal.

A lot of energy on this board was put into following and supporting Maurice so it makes for a letdown, but maybe there are hints of what's best for the Lobos in various parts of this thread.

Exactly how do you know whether or not our staff was out of the loop on this? The chances that he continued plodding along like he did before the tournament when he blew up would really kept anyone thinking that he was good enough to put up with his issues except Weir.

Weir and staff never stopped recruiting. We had offers out - and immediately signed another when Maurice took a last minute visit to Memphis. If you have seen Bragg - anyone competing with him for minutes might waiver in their decision. No doubt Weir and staff knew as much - still it didn’t prevent them from offering and getting the better talent. Just my opinion - disappointed maybe - off guard, hardly.

In looking at Ezziddine's tape, one thing stood out to me. Although most of the tape focused on offense, I noticed that after every basket, he did not celebrate--he ran back hard on defense. That's a skill he's going to need playing for coach Weir. He's big and can run. That will be great to have at the back end of the press.

I wanted Maurice, but tbh, of all the "2nd chancers" coming in, he made me the most nervous. Stuff I read about him in the past made it sound like he was very bright but a bit of a hardcase. There were some indications his maturity and emotional control still weren't there (semifinal). The talent and size were obvious, but I was thinking it was possible it might be another Logwood/Simons deal where it took a while for all involved to mesh, and maybe a suspension or two in there. I wish him best and I won't go sour grapes.... I still wish he was coming..... but I can understand not wanting to compete with Bragg, and Memphis is a higher profile program than us, which I think was important to IM.

Like many of you, I've already moved on, because I would rather have kids here who want to be here than kids who are unsure. I think in Weir's system, finding kids who buy in immediately will be just as important as their talent level. If IM was not sure, then probably the best move for all involved.

Ezzedine was originally a 3* and like most Euro players, looks very fundamentally sound. He gets back on D, runs the court reasonably well, and looks to have a decent midrange game, and a decent stroke. He brings good size, which we needed desperately last season. If he buys in and wants to be here, I think the whole thing ends up being a wash and we are fine.

I also think Pinchuk will surprise this coming year. He has the fundamental skills, he looked good early..... I think the size and speed of post players in our conference shook him up a little, and he mentally fatigued and began making mistakes.... but the skills are there, and he will be ready for the speed of the game and athleticism of the opposition this year. He has great footwork, he just got a case of nerves about mid-conference and started missing bunnies. We asked a lot of him, he had to play more than we probably wanted, but I think it will pay dividends this year.

For me personally - I hope we're done. We'll have a good mix of players that know the system to go with the new faces. I'm looking forward to the leadership and growth of those who have learned to embody the New Lobo Culture and to see how the new players work into the mix. Go Lobos.

I wonder if Bragg's presence is what cause the flip. Some players don't want to work for their playing time. It also sounds like at least one of our next year's leader didn't like this guys attitude. Things happen for a reason. Time will tell.

This whole Isaiah Maurice episode reminds me a bit of a previous Isaiah — Isaiah Rusher. Two very different people yet both with temperament issues.

I had such high hopes going into to the 2009-10 season, but when Alford gave Rusher the boot I was sorely disappointed wondering if we were going to have the fire power to compete with what were expected to be very tough BYU, SDSU and UNLV squads.

As it turned out we had plenty of firepower that season with players like Hobson, Martinez, Gary, McDonald, etc.

That team turned out pretty good being nationally ranked and finishing 30-5.

Could Rusher made a difference against Washington? Perhaps. But would he have lasted that long? Could he have co-existed with Hobson who could be another hot-head?

At the end of the day Hobson was injured in that Washington game and we just didn’t have the speed and athleticism to match up with the Huskies, but wow, what an awesome season!

Here’s hoping to a great season next season.
