    David Chiotti

During a tough transition season, it has been great to see some real bright spots, not the least of which for me has been watching Furstinger becoming a force to be reckoned with, as well as strong performances by the freshmen (particularly Maluach, but Pinchuk is also doing well for a freshman IMHO). I know that Weir hired David Chiotti into a position called "director of player development", but I haven't heard a lot about what he does exactly. Just taking a guess, but I would think that he works quite a bit with our bigs, having played center for us. I do not want to diminish the hard work and accomplishments of Furstinger and the freshmen, but I also wonder if what we are seeing from them on the court might be partly traced back to good tutoring by Chiotti. In any case, I'm glad to have such a good player back coaching for us.

Fursty's defensive technique and positioning has been perhaps the brightest area of improvement. Seeing the was he fronting the SJSU bigman was reminiscent of the way Chiotti defended Bogut. I don't think Joe's improvement this season is a coincidence.

Chiotti grew a lot as a player during his time playing for the Lobos. I'm ecstatic to see him passing on the knowledge of his experience to the new generation, Fursty in particular.

It can only be good to have a successful former Lobo on the staff. Loads of potential in several directions.

I've seen Big Dave in action coaching high school aged kids on angles and footwork during Lobo Camps going back to the last McKay camps. He has a very relatable technique when teaching. Clearly knows his stuff...

In this thread we learn who the half empty/half full people are.
My position as a moderator adds no validity to my opinions. I am a fan just like you and as such when I express a view it represents me and me alone and carries no more weight than any other fan other than the fact that I am always right. (Like everyone else.)

Very good point and enjoyed that in Denver at the Pepsi center as the Lobos beat Utah in the MWC Championship game.
