    WNIT Round 1 - St Mary's

    First Post Banner
St. Mary's is very tall with three international starters. Only one of first ten players is under 5'11". They out rebound their opponents by +10.8. But they turn it over 18.5 times per game (-5.1 margin).

    Pre-conference games of note:
-7 at California, +2 at Boise State, -11 at Utah, -24 to UC Davis, -10 at Purdue

They had a 7-1 record in February (including a 16-point win at Gonzaga) and finished 2nd in their conference with an overall record of 20-10. They were upset by #7 Pacific in the quarterfinals because they had 29 turnovers. Haven't played since March 2nd.

    Starters:
#21 Beck, 6'0" SR (15.4 ppg, 6.1 rpg) New Zealand
    #25 McKay, 6'3" JR (15.4 ppg, 7.2 rpg) Australia
    #12 Raggio, 6'1" JR (14.2 ppg, 8.9 rpg) California
    #03 Forcadilla, 5'8" SO (7.0 ppg, 2.1 rpg) Australia
    #05 Holland, 5'11" FR (6.8 ppg, 2.8 rpg) California

    Bench averages 13 ppg.
    #23 Codding, 6-0 FR
    #20 Rathbun, 6-0 JR (3-point specialist)
    #33 Ferguson, 6-3 SO
    #30 Akaegbu, 6-2 SO
    #13 Moe, 6-1 SO

Their scoring margin is +5.4 (71.2 to 65.8). They shoot 48% as a team, but only 33% from deep and 67% on FTs. Their "big three" have all scored >1000 points in their career, but their best 3-point shooter (43%) is freshman starter Holland.

Johnson? What's wrong with Rio Rancho like in yesteryear. The drive down from Santa Fe is so much easier. https://www.abqjournal.com/1145350/u...-wnit-bid.html

7 of the 11 MWC teams are still playing. Now we got to get 7 wins this week...ok at least 6 and a close 7th.

There are benefits to both. I really do hope we get a good loud crowd, and they play well.
