575 has roughly 145,000 of the 2,000,000 people, or 7.5 % of the total population.
uh.... Dona Ana county has 213,000 alone. Lea, 66k, Otero 66k, Chavez 66k Eddy 54k, Curry 50k

Fill in the rest of the Area Code 575 counties, and you have roughly 600,000, or 30% of the state's population.

And, that should be the Flagship program in the state's largest city. Albuquerque!

There are a few counties in NM that are split in half by the area code boundary. For example....Torrance.....Sandoval.....and San Miguel. Each one of those counties is split between the 505 and the 575. Factor in the portions of those counties that are in the 575 and I would say that it is closer to 40-43% of the states population that resides in the 575. Almost half of the people in this Great State Of New Mexico do NOT live in the Albq metro area......or the 4 corners area.

NMSU returns 16 starters next season. NMSU will also have the services of two 2016 starters who didn't play in 2017. Then, Jason Huntley becomes the feature running back for NMSU.

Jason Huntley is probably more dangerous than Larry Rose III. Huntley had the 101 yard kickoff return vs Utah State in the Arizona Bowl.

NMSU is going to be pretty good next season.

I think it's awesome! Fantastic marketing to capitalize on a 57 year bowl drought with an OT victory in front 40k Aggie fans. Hell yeah you do a parade and anything else that gets the fans to engage. We fans want to be part of something and this year for the Aggies was pretty special, so they need to go all out and get that whole town involved.

I suspect after this, season tickets for next year are going through the roof.....

Come on now. There is a reason unm owns nmsu head-to-head in this series. Because of the sheer number of meetings, of course the weaker program might win every so often, but I expect even Bab Davie to return things to "normal " this year. Aggies put all their eggs in one basket for 2017, but losing Rogers, Rose, and Scott will just be too much.

What the heck is all of this AGGIE BS doing on the LOBOLAIR website? Don't they have their own? I realize it is the first time in 50 years but does that mean we have to "bend the Knee"?

Man, for someone that doesn't care, you are probably the most active poster in this thread and keep bumping it. Pretty much anytime NMSU gets mentioned around here, you go out of your way to jump into the conversation. Isn't it more prudent to just ignore threads like these if you don't really care?

NMSU might as well have just won a national championship. I promise you the fans probably are more elated than Alabama fans winning their umpteenth championship. They're also having a party in Albuquerque too.

And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

A lot of UNM fans understand they are also New Mexicans, and figure a NMSU bowl win is a whole lot better than the state getting no positive recognition. Those UNM fans who wish for NMSU to lose ever game they play, just skip those posts and skip the parade.

Well this is what our fellow New Mexicans are tweeting to our recruits.

Do you think that is anything out of the norm in recruiting?

I am not saying that is a good thing--it isn't--and I am not defending it, but every fan base has a few "fans" who will do that. Even more so, every coaching staff will, in their own way, point out the negative side of schools they are recruiting against. I have seen/heard plenty of UNM fans mention negatives about NMSU and other schools when we are competing for recruits against them. Recruiting is an unpleasant business.

I don't like that they are reporting false claims. No reports to date have said Davie has done any wrong doing and nmsu's AD is on a payment plan to pay off its debt. I understand the recruiting wars that go on but reporting false facts is not part of it.

Kinda like getting championship rings for finishing in a 3 way tie for 1st place in a division. Is there really any difference ? Well I guess a program with a budget deficit should spend money on such things.
