Danny supposed to be named Most Improved

Pacers' Granger expected to be named Most Improved Player
    May 11, 2009
    CBSSports.com wire reports

INDIANAPOLIS -- The agent for Indiana Pacers forward Danny Granger says he expects the All-Star forward to win the NBA's Most Improved Player award.

Mark Bartelstein said Monday he has been in contact with league officials, and he anticipates Granger getting the award.

The Pacers have called a news conference for Tuesday, but spokesman David Benner wouldn't say what it was about.

At the start of the season, Granger signed a five-year, $65 million contract extension. He rewarded the team by averaging 25.8 points per game and being selected to the All-Star team for the first time.

Granger has increased his scoring average by at least five points in each of the past three seasons. He averaged 19.6 points in 2007-08.

Danny is such an awesome person, which to me is worth more than all the millions he makes. Class.

DG can play but if he stay with Indy they aren't going to be a playoff team for a few years, they just don't have much talent right now, they have lots of projects playing, when you rely on guys like Mike Dunleavy, T.J Ford, Marquis Daniels, Troy Murphy, Jarret Jack, Brandon Rush, Roy Hibbert.... You aren't going to win much, seriously what a horrible gming job. They have some nice young talent but they don't have a real second or third option.

    Young man. Ahem. Focus.

This is about Danny Granger winning an award, not about your prospectus on the Pacers' future.

    Award.

    Not your $0.02.

    Focus.

NBA Don't Really Agree with That...

Yeah, they're still rebuilding but there's been some big steps... they have some flexibility under the cap and their youngsters have grown into legit starters.

Boston, Cleveland, Miami, Orlando and Chicago are going to be perennial playoff teams for the near future but there's possibility that Danny and the development of some role players can sneak Indy into the remaining 3 playoff spots and then who knows what happens.

Also, all of this could change in one week when a little white ball may be bringing Griffin or Thabeet into town. I'm sure Danny would LOVE to see that.

Good article on Indy's outlook @ indystar.com/article/20090407/SPORTS15/904070370/1004/rss02 (can't post yet)

Indiana needs a proven scorer they don't have 1 outside of Danny and I don't think anyone but Griffen will put up big numbers from the rookie class. Some guys they should go after even over pay if need be, Ron Artest, Grant Hill, Shawn Marion, Mike Bibby, they really need another proven scorer. Also ATL will be a playoff team for years to come in the east unless Joe jolts after next year

Ron Artest? You have to be joking! I think I have a better chance of suiting up for the pacers than Ron Artest.
