OT: Good news for brooklynesq, more bad news for Memphis

That he lives in America's safest city. This is normally the kind of thing I'd post in the Basement but I'm not sure brooklyn goes to the basement, so:
Among cities with a population exceeding 500,000 residents, New York City tops the list of safest cities in America. The Big Apple saw a decrease of 4% in violent crime from 2007, handily beating the national average. The overall drop consists of a 9% decrease in assaults (the largest sub category), but is marred by a 5.4% increase in murder, 1.7% increase in rape and a 1.8% increase in robbery. New York City's per-capita crime rate hovers at 4.2%.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg touted the continuing downtrend in crime activity, declaring that New York City has had "43 fewer murders, 1,415 fewer robberies and 491 fewer cars stolen" in the first five months of 2009 compared to 2008. Bloomberg continued, "Using innovative policing strategies and a focus on keeping guns out of the hands of criminals, we are continuing to do more with less, in spite of the economic downturn."

Tuscon, Arizona, however, does have a lower crime rate than New York City, at 2.9% per-capita, but a lack of property crime statistics prevents it from achieving the top spot.

After New York, America's safest cities are: San Jose, Los Angeles, San Diego, El Paso, Honolulu, Denver, Boston, Las Vegas and Louisville.
More bad news for Memphis, that city is the worst in America in crime stats.

Here's the link if anyone's interested.

My aunt lives about 30 miles from Memphis and she hardly ever goes into the city. She says it can pretty scary at night.

Just a hunch, but I would infer from his name that he lives in Brooklyn, not New York City.

But I am certain since Brooklyn is a neighbor to NYC this report is a good thing! Great news for NYC, not so good for Memphis!!!

How can you take a study/report serious that lists El Paso as one of the safest cities.

I thought Brooklyn was one of the five boroughs that make up New York City?

The others being Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx.

    NYC

NYC consists of 5 boroughs(county) 2.6 million live in Brooklyn and the mail is addressed to each county except for Queens. (I don't know why Queens is different, each post office appears on the mailing address)
Those who reside in the four outer boroughs refer to New York County(Manhattan) as "the City". The Bridge you see runs from Brooklyn to Manhattan and vice versa.

I wonder if it also has the lowest incidence of manic-depressive disorder since everyone is getting lithium in their water! It could become a haven for manic-depressives everywhere!
