Tim Floyd Out At U$C
per ESPN he stepped down!

YAKKACAT HAS GOT TO LOVE THIS!!!!

Now watch the dominoes fall as the ripple effect of a coaching change this late will affect a dozen or more schools.
Don't be surprised if Neal's name comes up in the next couple of weeks as a possible replacement for... well, USC will take coaches to step in away from Mystery State, who will then scramble and get a coach from Whatchamacallit Tech, and then they'll hire a guy away from the University of Notsofaraway...
You know how it works...
Remember: pillage first, THEN burn!
Cue the flood of players leaving and recruits scratching USC off their list.
Floyd will probably get a ESPN job for the short-term and get another D-I job perhaps

Glad he is gone at SC and certainly happy he was not hired at UOFA. USC does not need that type of character or lack there of running that program. At first I was okay at Floyd possibly coming to Arizona. I certainly did not understand why Arizona would go after him other than the aspect of Recruiting. I am glad Arizona has Miller because Sean is a much better person and in my opinon a better recruiter who relates better to kids. Coaches who are unethical just do not care, it's not that they cannot be ethical but rather just ignore that aspect.
I was told as of Sunday USC might let him go after the investigation of the basketball program was over. There is no telling how long that will take. Not to mention Floyd did not see eye-to-eye with Athletic Director Mike Garrett.

Also, not to mention the guy is a slimeball.
It's obvious why the guy is leaving. Sanctions are forthcoming and Floyd is just getting a head start on his move before the crap hits the fan. Spare me with the enthusiasm bull Floyd. You and your program are dirty, got caught, and now it's time to go.
He should get the Kelvin Sampson treatment, banned from the NCAA for a period of time. I am sick of these guys having jobs in college ball.

Embroiled in controversy, Southern California coach Tim Floyd resigned on Tuesday, The Clarion Ledger of Jackson, Miss., reported.
The newspaper obtained the contents of a letter that the coach submitted to USC athletic director Mike Garrett.
"Unfortunately, I no longer feel I can offer the level of enthusiasm to my duties that is deserved by the university, my coaching staff, my players, their families, and the supporters of Southern Cal," the letter said. "I always promised myself and my family that if I ever felt I could no longer give my full enthusiasm to a job, that I should leave it to others who could. I intend to contact my coaching staff and my players in coming days and weeks to tell them how much each of them means to me. I wish the best to USC and to my successor."
Floyd has been accused of giving money to a man who helped O.J. Mayo land with the Trojans. According to a May 12 Yahoo! Sports report, Louis Johnson -- a former confidante of Mayo -- said that Floyd gave Rodney Guillory, an associate of sports agent Bill Duffy, $1,000. Such a payment would constitute a major violation of NCAA rules.
Mayo played only one season before entering the NBA draft. He currently plays for the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Hattiesburg, Miss., native led a resurgence of USC basketball, taking the Trojans to the NCAA tournament the past three seasons.
Floyd was being pressured by Alums. He could see the writing on the wall. He was going to be gone regardless. If you cannot recruit kids based on your ability to sell the university on its merits then you have problems.
Anyone who knowingly breaks recruiting guidlines and rules to the extent he did should be grounds for being banned from coaching for a given period of time. That recruiting game is an awful dirty business and the ones who stay true to who they are as a person and represent thier university with class are the ones who can persevere.

so when will John Calipari resign? Or does he get a pass because of Kentucky![]()

:Afun)also maybe look for Reggie Theus's name to pop up at USC ?:Afun)
I find it hard to understand how he is hired. As soon as he signed the clock on serious violations started ticking.
While Calipari seems to attract the same suspect events, he wins, so I can at least comprehend an AD or alumni group thinking JC may be worth the risk. Bur Floyd? Don't win big and still get sanctioned?
Why?
Regardless of if he won a lot or not he (Floyd) has had questionable ehtics in recruiting for a long time. If a coach does not have a history of breaking the rules the NCAA tends to be a bit more leaniant. Calapari has not been caught doing it the way that Floyd has. Basically Calapari is taking the heat without anyone actually proving he did what he is being accused of doing at Memphis. With Floyd he was said to have given money to O.J Mayo's former advisor.

I thought I heard that Coop was going to be an assistant there after the WNBA season. Wonder if that's still going to happen.

I have heard the names who are interested: Theus, Jamie Dixon, and Steve Lavin. Jamie Dixon is interested...his wife is a Hawaii alum and he is from Cali.

Also Oregon St. HC Craig Robinson is being mentioned. I really do not see him going there with the class he has coming in at OSU. Plus anyone who goes to SC better prepared for possibly of the school being hit with major sanctions.

oh yeah reggie is on the outside lookin in
Ahhh ok. Why would Dixon or any established HC go to USC when they are almost certain to get the hammer dropped on them in 2 sports? Think about it...
Second, how did you get all the names when the news just broke in the media about 3-4 hours ago now all of a sudden a bunch of coaches are clamoring to throw their hat in the middle of a absolute mess!?
I dont know Lav but I cant see how he would want to get back in the business with that mess hanging over his head.
Jamie Dixon. ha ha
Craig Robinson what has he done again?
Theus? Can you say more sanctions?
#UNMerciful
OK I see where you got your info from. The LA Times.
Jamie Dixon had better get ready for USC phone calls
Pittsburgh Coach Jamie Dixon, who grew up in the San Fernando Valley and was a standout at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, would be the first choice of some USC basketball fans when the school begins its search to find a replacement for Tim Floyd, who reportedly resigned Tuesday.
Another logical candidate would be Oregon State Coach Craig Robinson. More possibilities: Former Sacramento Kings Coach Reggie Theus, St. Mary's Coach Randy Bennett and Virginia Tech Coach Seth Greenberg.
But the Trojans could be hampered in trying to hire a top replacement, considering no one knows what the outcome will be on the ongoing NCAA investigation involving O.J. Mayo and the Trojans basketball program.

Hey:
This opens up a great opportunity for Steve Fisher to hire Tim Floyd as his asst. head coach to further the glory of the SDSU hoops program!![]()
For one Dixon could see it as an opportunity to be the guy in getting USC basketball where it should be and done the right way. And it's a challenge for Jamie Dixon. I do believe Jamie Dixon does not want to go head-to-head with Howland in the same city. Coaches love challenges though...why not. That's just what I was told.
More than likely Lav won't be the guy. But his name is out there.
Although he has only been at OSU for one year. Quite impressive what he did in his first year at Oregon State for not having as much talent as Oregon. And his recruiting class is ridiculous for 2009.
Why would any coach want to walk into a situation like USC. Why does any coach take on challenges? To see if they can build a program. Jamie may very well stay at PITT. However this is not the first time his name has been linked to USC. His name was out there when it was reported that Floyd would take the UOFA JOB.
Don't shoot the messenger. Those are the names I was told that are being mentioned. At this point Dixon seems to be the likely of the three.
Theus:Afun)

Boy am I glad we did not give Floyd the chance, Lobos have the Alford Gang
![]()
MOMO JONES, AND DERRICK WILLIAMS all high-level players are expected to be released from thier LOI's. I just feel for those players and thier families. Floyd sure swerved all of them. So glad that Solomon Hill recommited to UOFA. Floyd did not deserve the kid.

Really sucks for them as lots of schools that may have been recruiting them are out of scholly's I am sure Fisher would be going after Jones if SDSU was not out of scholarships
