Now the question is - if inducted, will he attend the ceremony? Sadly, I don't think he would. He was extremely upset about his dismissal from IU (rightfully so IMHO). My guess is that he might say some kind words to the press if asked about the honor but would decline to actually show up.
I hope he would decide to attend, though. I think he would receive a tremendously enthusiastic reception and it would have to be gratifying for him to be there in person to experience it.
All the horrible negative things that have happened with the IU basketball program since his departure is a testament to the wonderful things that he did while the head coach.
A well deserved honor. I believe he will attend. He is a bigger man than many of his detractors.
Oh and by the way, he resurrected a TT program that was in the dumper. The man is a leader of men and
a helluva coach despite his shortcomings.
Jesus Christ a statue of him ought to be in front of the Basketball Hall of Fame.
