Texas got huge news when the Longhorns found out that talented guard JíCovan Brown was cleared by the NCAA clearinghouse on Monday.
Texas sports information director Scott McConell confirmed the news to FOXSports.com.
Brown didnít qualify a year ago out of Port Arthur Memorial High (Texas), but worked on his academics for the past year and is now able to battle for the starting point guard spot with holdover Dogus Balbay and Florida transfer Jai Lucas.
The addition of Brown may fly under the radar, but heís someone that could give Rick Barnes the one piece he needs to compete for the national title this season.
Texas has a loaded frontline that includes Dexter Pittman and Gary Johnson, forward Damion James is back and Barnes brings in a talented freshman class led by Avery Bradley and Jordan Hamilton.
