Now listed as a 91, call me crazy but he was about a 78 before he gave us the nod.

Thanks Crazy. He deserves that ranking. I said early on that he has the potential to be a first round draft pick. Big time get for Alford.

Weird:
In Jan. 09 he sound pretty pedestrian.
Than in March 09, two months later, he sounds like an ACC prospect.
One more reason to seriously doubt these rating systems and star assignments.
The Star System is opinioned based and really means nothing in the grand scheme of things. There have been quite a few players who were ranked really low in HS and they had good college careers are still in the NBA. Scouts can only see so many players at one time. There are so many kids playing AAU ball in the summer. Really a lot of kids are discovered in AAU games. Being a good talent evaluator is seeing things that other coaches may not have seen. Snell sounds like a steal. I have heard from others who have seen him he is a great pick-up for UNM.
"The thermometer of success is merely the jealousy of the malcontents"
Snell was a revelation. It's just simply a case where somehow no one had seen him for whatever reason. Anyone who watches him play would not think he isn't a big time talent. It's not that he was rated low or anything. He wasn't rated at all. Now that people are seeing and hearing about him, he is being rated accordingly.

I think the fact that he grew like 8 inches in 18 months probably kept him off of many teams' radar screens.

90-100: Immediate Impact Prospect
Player demonstrates rare abilities and has the potential to start as a freshman for a national, top-25 program.

So if ESPN give him their highest category 90-100 then that should be equivalent as a 5*
Where are all the people claiming they cant get excited for someone without any stars!!
Spanna, you there? :)
Thats why I wont agure with this staffs eye. Its obvious they know 1000x more than me when it comes to this stuff. If they think hes a stud then who am I to argue.
I will remember something I was told that really made me perk up when I asked if he was a sleeper, I was told. "no hes a pro!!"

IMO Snell will easily challenge for MWC freshman of the year next season. I know we have Hobson, McDonald, et al, but I just can't see how that guy doesn't play a role somehow.

The pattern is getting real easy to see, 90% of the time SA and Staff offer a player, he goes jumping up the charts, this due to quality of Staff in choozing diamonds in the rough. ''IF SA WANTS HIM, HE MUST BE GOOD''
Congrats to Tony, can't wait to have him put pen to paper in November. Lobo basketball is back baby. We're lookin at a mid to late 90's push for this program. Glad you wanted to be a part of it Tony!!
GO LOBOS!

I really would like November to get here quickly so we can start seeing some hoops and get these guys signed.
I agree with GoLobos....wish we could sign him (and the others) ASAP! I'm worried that UCLA and Howland will do anything they can to get Snell to change his mind. HIJOLE!!!!
GO LOBOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats Tony the newly reworked PIT is waiting to be your home....
AND thanks for the early commit, the Lair is excited !!! IMPACT player on a top 25 team !!!
Wait, are you trying to tell me that SA and staff can tell more about a player from evaluating him in person and speaking to those around him (coaches etc.) than Spanna can tell from the star system? I thought that stars were everything, well if you're Spanna they are.
TS is going to be a special player when he gets here. Thanks for being a LOBO
