While folks can argue the validity of all the different rating systems, it's kinda cool to
see our Lobos at #8 on 12/13. Amazing how winning helps !
other teams of interest
Cal #14
Tex AM #21
Tex Tech #22
SDSU #34
Dayton #43
BYU #44
UNLV #54
Will be interesting to see how the other "ratings systems" evaluate us.

I love the Lobos getting their respect now, I think UNLV will work it's way back up, I hope so, and finally SDSU wins against a weak Arizona squad. The MWC has been big against the Pac 10 this year, but so has everyone else.
Go Lobos we have this off game against N.Arizona this week and then it's back to much better teams from then on. Another funny thing is how everyone said we played a weak Cal tea, and their RPI is down to # 14 again now.

And we are now projected to go 31-0!
Perchance to Dream.....

In the early days of the seasons the Sagarin ratings show an impact from the initial estimated rankings, which are simply the closing scores from last season. As more and more games are played the weight given to this diminishes until a connection criterion is met (think 6 degrees of separation). Today's rankings are the first ones of the season for which this is met, and the preliminary rankings are gone from the system until next season.
Regarding our SOS, it jumped from 200+ to 135th with that game. We have the 4th highest of the top 12 teams in the Sagarin rating, so obviously those other guys like to eat cupcakes as well. Syracuse, Kansas, Georgetown and Kentucky all have an SOS worse than 200th, with Kansas limping in badly at 302nd. (And remember Georgetown has played 2 top 20 teams)
In other Sagarin News, the PAC10 has fallen to the 9th overall, behind the A10, Conference USA and the MWC, which are packed so tightly you can't really tell the difference among them. PAC10 is also in that cluster.
Of the remaining OOC games, other than the ones Los Lobos mentioned, Creighton is 181, NAU 217, and ORU 177. Sagarins's model projects about a 13 point win over ORU.
Crap! I had just written a longish response and when I hit post reply I got a server error and lost it. Sorry guys, you are deprived of the vast wisdom I was trying to impart.
(or was that wisdom only half-vast?)
Hey, it finally showed up after about a 5 minute detour through cyber-space.
Real Time RPI has UNM with an RPI of 14. Nine opponents in the top 100, five in the top 30. Already four "quality" wins.
