Oral Roberts is a GOOD team!

They have beaten Kansas, Stanford, Oklahoma State, and Missouri in recent yrs.

Granted ORU is having an average yr just like Creighton. But make no mistake about it......road games are tough especially against the likes of a Sutton coached ORU.

I have a feeling ORU is gonna win their league again and make it to the NCAA Tourney.

At the end of the day......while it is always sad to see a loss.......this is not a BAD loss like the UCF or Drake games last yr. It is a loss that we can value and we can learn from.

Correction. They are a good HOME team. So from that perspective, it's not a totally bad loss, but ORU will also lose to some lesser teams on the road that will hurt us (already have). Plus, their league is terrible.

Still, a couple of wins against TT and Dayton makes up for this. We need to regroup.

ORU is a good team, so from that perspective it isn't a bad loss.

However, from the NCAA tournament perspective it is a bad loss, just like Drake and UCF were last year. A bad loss to the committee is any to a sub-100 RPI team, ORU had an RPI of 174 coming into this game. Now, every team usually has one or two bad losses on their resume, but we can't afford to lose any more like this.

We need to get away from basketball and let these kids see there families and relax. Then watch how angry and fired up they play against Tech.

Yup. In the committee's eyes, this would be like losing at TCU or at CSU. One isn't going to kill you, but you can't have too many like that. So, going forward, we need to make sure we get those other road games that we should win.

Of course, a road win at a place like BYU or UNLV would be huge and erase this totally.

disagree. They will contend for their league title and it will not be a 'bad loss' from NCAA perspective at the end of the year. I still say they had some very good atheletes on that team, along with good size (more so than us, BTW). Should not be that bad of a loss.

Any loss to a team with a RPI of 150 or better is not a good lose, however their RPI may change by the end of the season to be a little closer to the 110-120 area.

Watching both teams play tonight, UNLV would smoke ORU by 20+, on any floor. And BYU is looking more and more legit, as well. We have a lot of improvement to make. Hopefully, this wakeup call gets us going.

a road loss? not so much.

now playing crappy teams all together, like 6 250+ rpi teams... yeah, that comes with a price. especially when a true test comes along, and you fail. Lobos are one of the only teams in the nation with 3 legit road wins.

road wins ANYWHERE are truly rare this day in age when some teams play one maybe two OCC with the rest coming in neutral court venues.

I think very highly of any sort of true road win. they often get over looked but really shouldnt. kudos to anyteam playing more than 3 true roadgames a year.

Syracuse will have had played ZERO this non conference season. but three neutrals "make" up for that.

Apparently the RPI thinks those 3 road games were huge......because even though we lost to ORU our RPI is still #21!!!! Yes #21!

Texas Tech's RPI is 31. I am sure Stephen F. Austin and TCU are real good! NOT!
Also Texas Tech did well in beautifying their w-l by playing Northwestern St. and Texas A&M Community College and Lamar and Stanford. Texas Techs only quality win at best is Washington. Ask anyone how the PAC10 is doing this yr.

As far as UNLV. Their RPI is 27. I am more afraid of UNLV and SDSU in Las Vegas and in San Diego. But the next UNLV game is at HOME!!! SDSU was the game that I had penciled in as a loss since it is our first road conference game. The ORU game showed alot of areas we need to improve on primarily our inside game. At this pt. I still think we lose to SDSU. BUt better believe Alford is gonna use the next few weeks to address our weaknesses.

I called this loss during the preseason - granted, I don't think (m)any of us had any inkling that the Lobos would be doing as well as they're doing so far, but while losing is always a bummer I can't say it came as a shock to me.

The thing about ORU is that they've got that "anybody, anywhere" mentality that Gonzaga became famous for. Recall that last year they had just come from playing at UNC prior to coming into the Pit; it was no surprise to me that they came out unafraid and gunning and almost grabbed that game from us. I think that because it's a niche university (i.e. intense Christian focus and code of conduct and all that) they don't have a huge recruiting pool to draw from, otherwise this could very well be a team that would be extremely dangerous. As it stands, they're a fearless bunch who played a good game last night against a flat Lobo offense and a Lobo defense that couldn't seem to grasp the concept of a high-low set play.
