Kansas will most assuredly be placed in the St. Louis Regional which for the games will be Friday / Sunday games. You have BYU in this same regional which can't play on Sunday. BYU can only be placed in the west Regional (SLC) or the east Regional (Syracuse) which will be Thursday / Saturday games.

Good point, hobo. I'll have to do some adjusting to consider for that factor. I didn't really take into account dates and locations when doing this, but it seems like as we get closer this becomes a more pressing issue, so I'll adjust this to fit.

Actually at this point it's Utah St. Of course, this all changes if NMSU wins the WAC tournament, just like it would if any other team not leading its conference somehow wins the conference tournament.

Memphis's smack down, trash talking, and near brawl with SMU didn't keep them in?

LOL. They're on my first four out list. I couldn't justify keeping them in over Rhode Island when you compare RPIs (RI-28, Memphis-62) and Memphis' best win was against UAB, which isn't marquee by any means. UCONN also jumped in (as much as I wanted to keep them out) because they've beaten 3 teams ranked in the Top 15 at the time.

Here are my first four out: Memphis, Marquette, Dayton, St. Mary's

Next four out: Mississippi, Arizona St., Cincinnati, Charlotte

Very true, that was just a bit of silliness on my part. Read about that game this morning, sounded wild.

Good stuff, Zoukmaster, thanks for putting in the time and research and sharing with us.

Thanks Loboexpat. I'm trying to do at least 2 a week. My next one should be on Friday regardless, to get ready for the big weekend. Just doing my best to represent our humble board! Let me know if you ever have suggestions on how to improve the bracket. I'm all ears!

After the game last night, Lunardi had SDSU as part of the first four out. Where would you place them, Z?

Dang that is so hard. My heart tells me they should be in, especially because other bubble teams continue to falter. I think my head at this point says they're out and Marquette is in. Maybe Dayton is in too, though I can't justify that one to myself yet over Rhode Island. What I think is surprising is that Minnesota was listed as out this morning on ESPN. They took Purdue to the wire and blew out Wisconsin. I can't see that one.

I think it's partly a beauty contest and partly the fallout of having ranked Big East teams lose to middle of the pack Big East teams. They're going to be put in and others are going to be moved out to make room.

Yeah no joke. I just started working on the bracket for tomorrow, and this is the first time I took location into consideration. Man, that's tough! A lot of east coast teams get shipped out to the west, simply because the west isn't as good this year. I have to say I don't like the draw though, because UNM is the #2 seed in the West, and the way it's set up right now they get a 2nd round matchup with UTEP. I'd almost rather get shipped somewhere else so we don't play UTEP. It all hinges on the game against BYU. If the Lobos lose that game, they drop to a #3 seed and likely get shipped to the East bracket to make room for BYU.

Thanks Zouk for the hard work. I think SDSU has to win the MWC Tourney now. BTW that UTEP/OKIE ST game is going to be sweet. As a Lobo fan those are 2 teams I definitely want to avoid.

Thanks burquesid! I know often times people take issue with the bracketologists and the brackets posted on here, so my goal is to provide someone that is one of our own for us to create a bracket that all of us here at Lobo Lair feel good about. It seems like most people agree with my stances at this point, but if there are ever disagreements, I want to know!

BTW, assuming no major changes tonight, tomorrow's bracket moves Oklahoma St. into a matchup with Virginia Tech (another great game) and UTEP gets Marquette, with the winner facing the Lobos in the 2nd round. Eek!

Do you move Pitt down after the egg they layed at Notre Dame last night? (w/o Harangody playing)

Purdue's ranking could be in jeopardy depending on the news of Hummel today.

Actually, yes. Pittsburgh will move down to a 5 seed after last night's game, with BYU snatching up their vacant 4 seed. Purdue is still a 1 seed at this point, because Hummel or not, they beat Minnesota on the road. Can't justify moving anyone ahead of them until they lose, probably. Though Duke is right on their heels, which is why they're in the same bracket - worst #1 vs. best #2.
