Great half-hour discussion with Mark Smith and Mike Evans, Denver talk show host. I believe it is re-run throughout the day today
I have attempted to link the clip , which is on The Mtn website, of a "Webisode" of a 2minute plus outtake. Mark and Mike discuss POY.
Mark does not mention it directly in the clip but has told me that to this day he has never spoke to a voter that picked Lee Cummard as POY over Giddens. He believes that the MWC ignored the vote and created co-POY's.

Doesn't surprise me at all. Go's under the heading of suspicions confirmed. This conference has a huge Utah bias. The breakup of the WAC began when the Texas schools and Tulsa started voting as a block and diminishing the influence of the Utah schools.

No tranparency in the MWC office. Just like when the Dave Hall issued TCU a timeout when they didn't have any timeouts available a couple of years ago. Once he realized they had no timeouts, he quickly changed his tune and said that he had called timeout because he thought someone was injured. Just a big crock of s**t that the MWC offices conveniently chose to ignore. And the list goes on. This conspiracy theory does not surprise me at all.

I love Mark's "poker face" at 1 minute when discussing Jimmer as co-POY. Classic................

I know that many people dont like Gold Chain Mark but he was a big time advocate for the Lobos. His explanation of the Albuquerque of the reaction with the Lobos was a little odd but I think people know the passion of us Lobos fans.

He was positive about the Lobos and actually used the phrase "They are that good" !!!

I think Coach Alford converted Mark to the good side. Think about it. Every prior coach never chose to get the respect of the local media. To start, the media (Smith, Wright, Stevens) would start with something negative against McKay, Fran, Bliss, or Colson. Then as a response back, these coaches chose to have a closed door approach to the media, which resulting back in more negative media articles. Hence, the glass house affect of UNM basketball.

In the case of Alford, he has maintained an open door policy with the media. Reporting for the Lobos is a privilege. Alford expects respect to his team, and accurate and fair reporting. If that doesn't happen, then Alford will set the record straight. What we are seeing and reading is not just a Lobo love affair with the city and the state, but also a Lobo love affair with media.

Actually I have shown my true colors since my very first post. I dont like people who bash My Team. I respect and believe Brooky, and he has continually said that Mark Smith is a supporter of the program, and that is good enough for me, but I dont condone the bashing that Mark Smith has continually proven he is willing to do.

And.....for the record, I have never sugar coated my feelings on this issue. My past posts are easy enough to find.
