Impossible for the Roob to make another mistake. Another 10 years must expire before you will see that happen again. I saw that Lido was the actual winner in my spreadsheet, but I decided to let RPS announce the new results. Obviously he fell asleep on the job. <Ahem, cough, cough.> The Roob made the mistake of reading Snoopeme's prediction verbatim and since it came towards the end of the thread, he assumed Snoopeme was reporting the final score. There were many contributing factors to the mistake. Odds are long that will happen again, soon. And if it does, the Roob will retire from the Women's board.

I did announce it but it was actually in another thread and I posted it last night. I have already corrected the problem and rewarded Lido with the W and Icon. Great job Roob and thanks for your help, The Roob never messes up more than once a year.

Okay, here are the results based on the closest to the actual score which is how we've been keeping score. Nothing has changed. What changed is that RPS prematurely proclaimed Zoom the winner based on winning margin which is not how we've kept score in the past. I then went with closest to the actual score, but I reported an actual score of 65-45 because I misread Snoopeme's post to be the actual final score - my bad. The scores below are the outcome based on closest to the actual Score. Bloo correctly posted to the same effect when he called me out in an earlier post. He's still walking around with a swagger.

The way the formula works is as follows:

Actual Lobo Score - Predicted Lobo Score (absolute value, no negative values)
Actual Opponent Score - Predicted Opponent Score (absolute value, no negative values)

Add those two amounts together and you get your total differential. I will use Lido's prediction below as an example. He missed teh Lobo score by 7 points and he missed the Norfolk state score by 9 points. Total differential is 16 (7+9).

I'll allow The Game official, RPS, to make the final determination on how to handle scoring discrepancies.

Let me ask you then......can the situation occur again where someone will be declared a winner when everyone in the thread for example predicted the Lady Lobos would win the game and they lost? This seems ridiculous to me! Doesn't it make sense that before you declare a winner the poster at least have the winner of the game right? I.e. if everyone in the thread picks us to win and we don't why not just declare there is no winner that day? Or to present another scenario....what if only one person picks a team to lose (even if it is by a really large margin) and everyone else has the wrong team winning albeit by a very small differential......who would be the winner?

If nobody predicts a winner then there will be no winner, period. If only one person picks the right winner and everyone else is wrong then that one person will win no matter the margin.

Actually that's another part of the rules, that you have to pick the winner. So far we've been okay as we've had folks who picked Ol Miss and NMSU. They were in the small minority, but they were able to pick up some easy points (dirty money as we call it on the board).
