Been a Lobo fan since I can remember. A few cousins grew up Aggie fans (they're cowboy-like). Growing up, we would play basketball games on my parent's cement court in the backyard. Me and a few lobo cousins would be kenny thomas, royce, clayton shields, etc....and take on the 'aggies'...you can guess who won right? lol
I'm from ABQ via Flagstaff (AZ), Bandelier (NM), Bryce Canyon (UT), Novato (CA), Lakewood (CO), Burke (VA - D.C. area), ABQ, Phoenix (AZ), ABQ, Aurora (C0), Omaha (NE), Chicago (IL) and finally ABQ. Keep coming back and now here to stay.

If we get bonus points for conception knowledge than I will give it a try. Good chance I was conceived in Hong Kong or Yamanakako, Japan or the only other logical place would be Tainan, Taiwan. Born in Taipei, Taiwan and almost on a rickety airplane between the two. Raised in the bad lands of rural west Texas as a child and went to High School at a boarding school in Leysin, Switzerland ( Near the East bank of Lake Geneva). Started my college career in Houston,Texas at Rice University where I met my beautiful, charming and somewhat academically challenge New Mexican Frau at a frosh function the weekend before school started. Of course I was smitten and she had me under her thumb from the first glance. She failed out of Rice the first year and went home to New Mexico. I could not stand being with out her so I drove all night from Houston to Albuquerque to beg her to marry me. She obliged, and we eloped the next day in Las Vegas Nevada. (Despite the horrific outrage of both of our parents at the time, we still remain happily married with 2 great kiddos! A daughter that is a senior in High School and a Son who is in 7th grade.) By doing this I was cut off financially from my family and had nothing to call my own but my car ( which I loved, but I loved my wife more) I received as a graduation present which I had to sale to get my wife transportation, set up a humble abode and pay my first semester of tuition at UNM for the fall until I could get my loans and grants set up. It was very rough the first year as I had to get use to not having my parents support me and pay all my bills and send me an allowance etc... and live on a very meager budget in a less than suitable neighborhood just north of campus. Not to mention find a demeaning low paying job which I despised, continue school ( thank goodness the academics were far less challenging than what I was use to) and deal with everyday trauma of being married at 19. At first her parents went through the roof and tried to get us to get the marriage annulled, but once they accepted the fact I was not going away and truly loved their daughter they were very supportive of us and if not for them we probably would not have made it through college still married. We owe them our eternal gratitude for their love and support through the college years. Needless to say we made it through the rough spots and are now in good graces with our families. Since then, we have lived in Texas, Florida, Copenhagen, Denmark and back to Texas Northwest of Austin for the last 5 years.

I was a USAF brat and grew up to join the Marine Corps and even after that did a lot of travel so let's see how many commas I can get into this. Say it in one breath. You know you can.
Great Falls, MT; North Aurora, IL; Peterswald (just outside Hahn Air Base a ways, West Germany; north Aurora, IL; Grand Forks, Nd; Biloxix, MS; Albuquerque, NM; San Diego, CA; 29 Palms, CA; Denver, CO; 29 Palms, CA; Okinawa, Japan; Albany, GA; Colorado Springs, CO; MCAS Iwakuni, Japan; Alexandria, VA and the last place before I get toasted... Mount Pleasant, SC
But Albuquerque always has that hold I call home. I lived the 10-11 years. Thats a long time!
WOW what a journey, born in Sacramento, grew up in Marysville Ca, went into the Air Force, lived in Phoenix when Rocky Long was the LOBO QB during Frank Kush powerful ASU days, Lobos had strong teams, then to Okinawa Japan, Grand Forks ND, Alaska, back to Cali, then to Albuquerque for 16 wonderful years, coached Little League for 10 years, loved it. Moved to Colorado Springs, on to Pennsylvania, back over to Amarillo, and now in Atlanta. Will be moving back to Amarillo at the end of 2016, we have a home there. Best place I lived was Albuquerque, great people, and fell in love with the LOBOS moved there in 84 when Gary Colson was coaching, just loved going to the games, great memories for a lifetime. I come here to stay informed, I think Coach Neal is the perfect guy for LOBO basketball. GO LOBOS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did the no State income tax influence your decision to go back to Amarillo, or do you just like the city as a good place to live. I do like the people I have met from there and believe it is a good sized city to settle down in. If I was interested in moving it would certainly be on my list of places to look at. Like it much better than Lubbock..

Retired from newspapers 2004 to read books, listen to the birds in our woods above Henderson Bay (not named, alas, for Jerome Henderson), follow Pirates & Steelers plus U of Washington Huskies football & basketball on TV, and smoke cigars.
Still follow Lobos hoops on TV and this fine forum. Lots of energy here.
Just found this thread...It's neat learning were people are from! I was born in ABQ, moved to Los Angeles as 3 year old. Moved back to ABQ and went to Highland and then UNM. Joined the Navy and floated around the world in tin cans and one sub. Completed grad school in Oklahoma in the 90s and then returned to LA recently to attend Pepperdine. Still in LA.
