    Great Game...keep the series going

I know it was a tough loss for UNM. That being said, this was one of the best college basketball games I have watched in person. I have long been a Steve Alford fan, having read his book and such. Your program is solid and has a great name in college hoops.

That was a war. To me, your team looked taller then ours and is very well coached. Your team runs a ton of solid offensive sets. I want to hire the person who teaches UNM free throws. My God, I told my wife at the half UNM missed like 3 FT's and I was right. There's nothing negative you UNM fans should take from this. Your team is very gritty and will cause a lot of headaches in MWC play. Trust in Steve Alford, the guy knows his hoops. I'd take him on my sideline any day.

I don't normally come to other teams' sites and offer greetings/luck but I thnk this is a solid series, UNM and UD have history together ( the COSiDA Classic win for us in the PIT), last year, and now this year. Good luck going forward this year and next, here's to renewing the Midwest/West rivalry.

I agree... get Dayton on next year's schedule, and the year after, and the year after...

I love this series; it's quintessential college basketball. Back and fourth, fans stroking out and having heart attacks: great!

I hope they continue the series! The two programs are so similar even the arenas are similar.

I've said last year, and before that, that Dayton is one of my favorite teams besides the Lobos. I like the way they play. Probably, as the TV announcers said, I think, because they play much like the Lobos do when the Lobos are playing right. So heck yeah, count me in on putting Dayton on the sked as much as we can.

Seems it is beneficial to both schools to continue this series. As difficult as it is to schedule good quality opponents that don't wreck your RPI, win or lose, it makes sense to continue to schedule each other. May the series continue for a long time.

This series is as good as it gets. Both teams battle it out everytime and seem to have each others resect. Fan wise I think we all respect each other because of the amount of support each team has and the similar type of facility both teams play in. I noticed for the halftime piece they had on the UD arena, it was said that some representatives from UD came to visit "The Pit" to see the structure. I noticed when the fans got into the game yesterday, it sounded pretty similar to how "The Pit" sounds. Although it is hard to tell on tv but i'm sure in person it's a great atmosphere. Great game and hope to see our teams continue to play against one another every year. Goodluck in the A10.

FYI - the two "oldest" arenas in the country are University Arena (aka "The PIT") and Dayton Arena.....and they're obviously two of the best arenas in the country for college basketball!!!!

A game in this series can only help your team in the long run. The Dayton game was the only road/neutral court game that can mimic a game in Vegas or San Diego. Likewise no other road game Dayton can play in a given year, will help them in the A-10 like a game in the Pit.

I never understood why Arizona canceled the series with UNM. I know Olson didn't think he could get a break here and we got the unltimate revenge winning in the McKale Center after he discontinued it. But 2 times Arizona made the Final Four after have losing in the Pit in the same year.

Dayton/UNM is a great series IMO and should be continued if at all possible. Dayton looks like they will be continually a power with great athletes.

What do you mean by "oldest"? As in a name with the word "arena"?

KU, Duke, are of a few that play in older places. And there are many more.

But no question that The Pit and Dayton Arena are 2 of the best ever.

Chrisflyer..Thanks for the Classy Post. I was hoping we would have won however, losing in 2 ot's away from home...against a very talented team does not disappoint me. It will serve as a good tune-up game for our own conference battles. I trust that we will continue a Home and Home serice.
