lol
When I was a little kid, playing baseball at Roadrunner Little League, my team, the Tigers, won the championship. The way the league worked was that the winner of the first half of the season played the winner of the second half to determine a champion. It was a 16 game season, 8 games per half.
My team struggled to finish the first half 4-4.
At the midway point, our practices started getting better and better. Knowing we could win the 2nd half and have a chance at the title, our coaches sought extra motivation through superstition. For the remainder of the season, we would not wash our uniforms again unless we lost a game.
We lost the first game of the second half, washed our uniforms, then won 8 straight, including the championship game. By the final game of the season, our dugout stunk to high heaven.
But, hey, it worked.
This superstition has followed me to the ripe old age of 28, and I use it for Lobo hoops. Every year I pick a Lobo jersey or shirt that's going to be my gameday shirt for the season. I wash it after losses, but I NEVER wash off a win. I know, it sounds ridiculously stupid and immature, but it's what I do.
Last season the Lobos won their last 14 conference games. By the time the TCU game came around, my throwback silver Lobos baseball jersey reeked of Lobo wins. While I wasn't about to compromise the winning streak by washing the lucky jersey, I did kind of feel sorry for whoever had to sit next to me in the pit.
Obviously, after being spoiled by a 30 win season(arguably the greatest in Lobo history), some of us have had a hard time watching as our team has gone through some growing pains in their 13-5, 1-2 start.
Other than the promising upside the team has shown us, the other positive is that ya'll haven't really had to smell my funk.
However, there's still quite a few games left.
I hope I stink again in March...

I first joined a couple years ago. Different username. I think it was THECASE, or something like that. Lost the pw, so i had to start a new one. I have been posting here more recently than I ever did before, however. Not sure why. Guess I just don't have anything better to do. lol
