    GAME OF INCHES

We almost had it won in in regulation! Tough loss and I truly feel for Reese, his body has got to be hurting! We have to feel so much better about this game, we battled back and our guys played like warriors!!! There are no MWC teams that want to play us in the tournament! I kinda like our chances.............

That last shot of DGs in regulation would have gone in for the win if it had been UNLV in a reverse situation. It could have rolled in as easy as it rolled out.

    No breaks this year.

Good game, although it wasn't the outcome I wanted. This team didn't give up and that's what I appreciated most. And as someone pointed out on another thread, welcome back AJ!

The Lobos did the absolute best with the product they have out on the court.

There's no shortage of fight, Lobo fans can be proud of how hard they fought. Sorry Dairese for the non-fairy tale ending to your career.

Tough year. Another threasd mentioned 0-6 in games decided by 6 or less. Win half those and it's a different feel. Really is a game of inches. Last season, felt like every game out no way an L was coming. I hope the guys keep their heads up even though it hasn't been all that was expected. An "inch" isn't much to swing toward a great run in the tourney.

I am proud of the fight, very proud but still WAY to much standing around in major spurts. We gave up numerous offensive boards in the second and too many ole drives to the rim in the last 8 mintues as well. I hope we get better in that area going into next year. That part of our game is what I struggle with.

And I think it is a game of peaks and valleys. Good teams do not find so many valleys and jsut play consitent and find as many peaks as possible. We have yet to find that middle ground. It seems we either look like world beaters in spurts or like we have no clue what we are doing in spurts. Just wish we could find more of that middle ground for long stints in games.

This team is so much on the edge of doing something good. The losses by these small margins are harder to take than getting blown out I think. They have shown the ability to come back and come back again, I have great hopes for this team at the tournament and they should be amazing next year.

Good point NMFAN. And not to beat the same drum over again, but that is the give take thing with young guys. Lots of potential and upside, but potholes and downside come too with the development of experience. Got to grow into doing the same thing over and again. Gordon is really coming on in that dept, double double machine!

Refs were not great but there were 3-4 that seemed to really be cruicial that were poor calls. Hurt momentum or fouled AJ out late in the second and a few others.

Wasn't there a bad one against Gary? UNLV was fell on top of him and they called the foul on Gary? Was that bad or did I just have one too many?

Protege, I could not agree more. And I think that is why Gary and Gordon have improved and usually show up and get after it and the others show up and then fall off the radar. I think ALOT of that has to do with all the crap we have delt with this year, Gordon coming out late, PMAC hurt, Fenton hurt, Cam sick, losing CD, etc, etc. I also wonder about rotations as well. I know alot of it has to do with match ups, etc, but like tonight KW had 2 turnovers and missed a shot and SA pulled the trigger on him quick. Fenton came in and did not look all that great. Early int he second Chad finally came in almost like a grasp to get back into the game but where was he in the first. I jsut t hink it is hard on these guys that for some reason they have not relaxed into roles and gotten comfortable.

Could of went either way.. I think the Rebel got the board and as he was coming down Gary was boxing him out. If he had not had the ball yet it would of been an over the back. However, I think he already had the rebound.

Throw me into that "our time will come" catergory. Past few years we face teams we beat twice in regular season, then lose in the tourney. Will the trend finally go in our favor?? It has to eventually. Something has to go right. We've been on the other end, now we need to see it come full circle, word to the MWC TOURNEY WYOMING game

Keep it together Man!! The future is bright, this time next year we will be playing for a high seed in the tournament. Our Frosh will turn into VETERAN Sophomores next year! Drew and AJ and PMAC will lead this team next year!

God Bless Gary...I will miss him, but we do have a team that will be picke to win the MWC next year, no doubt about it. Is there any way that we are not preseason favorites?

Also our fanbase better not get on Alford. To this day, I still can't believe that our head coach is Steve Alford - Mr. Basketball...

I know exactly what you mean! When the lobos lose, my wife goes into the other room and doesn't say anything until I start talking. She is the same way with the Steelers so she understands the bleeding that goes on in Sports. The lobos have been close this year but like I said this time next year we are going to be laughing about how sick we were this year!! I think we will make some noise in the Tournament, if not the future is bright and we have so much to look forward to!!
