    How is Colorado

    In the bubble talk when:

    1) We smashed them~~
    2) Their 19-12
    3) SOS at "82"
    4) RPI at 76
    5) and 5-6 vs rpi top 50

How are they in the consideration but not UNM?

We have TWO top 5 rpi wins against a top 10 and top 3 team!!!

Good point. The so called experts would say its because they are in the Big 12. They finished 5th in their league just as we did. I would argue that the MWC is a stronger league than the Big 12 this year.

Don't knock them too hard...they're probably the closest thing we've got to an "impressive" non-conference win at the moment

Sadly enough, I think sometimes it does. I heard somewhere a couple of years ago, that the lowest rated RPI team to ever receive and NCAA at large bid was non other than the Luc Longley led Lobos.......I'm convinced that sometimes a team with a lottery pick type player who has never played in the NCAA tourney gets special treatment. Which in Luc's case I was thrilled. I even remember when the Lobos received that bid, one of the quotes I had read from one sportswriter was: "And at what point did the selection commitee look at each other and say they owed one to the New Mexico Lobos?"

I think the Lobos got a Longley bid that year, and Colorado could get Burks invite this year.....

Colorado isn't going to get an at large any more than New Mexico is.

When it comes down to it the two teams are very similar in terms of strength. The Lobos have beaten BYU twice, and Colorado has beaten Mizzou, and KSU twice. Both teams would need to make big splashes in their conference tourneys to end up on the bubble.

Living in the Denver area and being exposed to Colorado quite a bit, they have a fairly decent team. They are small with a forward who definately is a forward playing center. They have Burks who is, most likely, if he waits a year a lottery pick. Higgins is a nice player as well. They beat CSU, Texas, Kansas State when they were ranked and Missouri at Missouri when they were ranked. There coach is a good one. Are they better than us, no, but they are not too bad.

Question: Do we want them to lose to Iowa St. ending their NCAA tournament hopes and makes room for us on the bubble (Given we beat CSU & BYU)? Or do we want them to win to strengthen our resume? I say lets go Iowa St.!

I tend to look there to see who the remaining at large teams are

    Michigan
    Boston College
    Mich. State
    V tech
    Clemson
    Colorado

    A few on the "OUT":
    Alabama
    Memphis
    UTEP

NE already lost their prilim round game, leaving on Baylor and Colorado as potential bubble teams that still have a chance if they advance far enough in the Big 12 tourney.

CO beating a terrible Iowa St. team probably doesn't do much to move them off the bubble, similar to us beating CSU. Just a game you HAVE to win to get to the next game.

Big 12 could very well be a 5 bid league when it's all said and done. Even though Mizzou and CO were both 8-8 in Conf, Mizzou had a significantly better OOC, 3 games better with a 45+ rpi better than CO, so there's a clear distinction between them.

Baylor most likely advances tonight against a terrible OU team, but would have to win 2 more games to get in the discussion as their rpi is in the 80's and a sub .500 Big 12 record.

I wouldn't mark Baylor as a W yet. Jones just got suspended for what looks like the rest of the year-improper benefits....

Yep, Baylor played awful and you can officially put a fork in them. Wonder if they are NIT worthy without Jones? Funny, one of the guys that I run ball with at the gym works with Jones's dad at a blue collar job and is biding his time until his son gets the big payday so he can retire early.

Anyone notice that CO's rpi jumped 9 spots by beating the worst team in the Big 12? From 76 to 67. If we beat a 43 rpi CSU, our rpi would likely jump 15 points or so, putting us in the mid 50's.

    5-6 vs rpi top 50

    that is why

compared to the other bubble teams out there that is good. either way chances are they won't make it unless they beat A&M, Texas, or Kansas in big 12 tourney

Its not that simple, the closer to top you are obviously harder it is too move up, remember CSU's RPI is irrelevant as it comes to your RPI jump it is rather there win percentage that matters.

Baylor could not have played worse, and TTU pretty much summed up its pat knight era in two plays-good but not good enough. Their PG, who kept them in the whole game, made two horrible drives to the basket and turned the ball over each time, when it was a single possession game. Mizzou all but tried to hand them the game, they looked awful. Plus for a home crowd, Mizzou didnt seem to have very many people there.

I really hate Baylor, so if jones being suspended just keeps getting bigger and bigger and they uncover more things, Ill be one happy guy...

I hear people say the NCAA doesn't care about matchups, yet coincidentally, they scheduled Shaq vs. Shawn Bradley when they were freshmen. Simple coincidence there, yeah.
