Is there a sign outside of The Pit?

My sister just called me as she was driving by the Pit. She said there was not any sign identifying the building either as it is famously known (the Pit) nor by it's official name of University Arena.

Is this true? If so, are they planning on adding the name at a later time when they complete the landscaping?I told her I would ask on this board, the best source for all things Lobo Basketball!

Isn't there a large sign near the main entrance? It is at an angle and may not be visible if your driving by on Cesar Chavez. I think somebody has it in their signature or avatar.

Yes, that' my recollection as well. Good catch by Pjamj's sister, though. It's a good idea to have a prominenet "The Pit" sign along Cesar Chavez as well.

I don't know, but I think they should be advertising the Pit a lot more. I know should not be picky and I know it costs money, but I think the should add a digital board on the corner just like the isotopes stadium. I think it would be such appealing maybe on top of the board Reading something like World famous The Pit. I might be asking a lot, but I want our arena outside and in be The Best. Landscaping is huge deal to make it look nicer. Also I thought I heard something like we were going to get a sign coming off the freeway saying something about the pit anyone know what happened to that plan?

They do have a digital sign. It's on the SE corner of Cesar Chavez and University. It's a digital board that announces all of UNM's games of all sports.

I agree with Lobogabe! We need to be very bullish on advertising everything Lobo! A giant sign advertising the PIT so large that it can't be mistaken from I25! The street should be renamed to LOBO avenue.
A huge sign would be a good graduation gift from the next graduating class at UNM.

I understand we have that ghetto sign across at the stadium, but THE PIT IS A NATIONAL KNOWN PALACE AND IF YOU GO TO ANY OTHER ARENA WELL KNOWN they do have these up to date screens. I think it will give The Pit that extra feel for tourists and it deserves it. REMEMBER EVERYONE I WANT THE "BEST" FOR OUR LOBOS & UNIVERSITY. I HEARD WE WERE GOING TO PUT a sign that displays the Pit coming off the off ramp on the freeway, where is at? I heard that we were going to have more displays on ceaser chavez, where are they?? I want The Best!

I would love to see a sign from I25. I love the giant pictures on the west side, but a sign would be cool too. I think it would be cool to rename the area from Lead to Gibson from the street on the East side of the Football parkinglot to I-25 "Loboville", now with the Dorms there, and the resturants and bars that are anticipated to move in that area now too. Maybe an Archway going over the street right after the onramps on the Freeway that reads welcome to Loboville home of the world famous PIT. or something. It would just be nice to see the city get behind the University, and try to shake this whole commuter school identity .
