    Best Yankee?

Derek Jeter got his 3,000 hit.
    Who is the best Yankee?

    Babe Ruth?
    Lou Gehrig?
    Joe Dimaggio?
    Yogi Berra?
    Mickey Mantle?
    Derek Jeter?

Best Yankee? To me as a Atlanta Braves fan, that is an oxymoron. lol
But if I had to say, I would go with the Babe.

Not that I really mean it, but I can't stop myself: The best Yankee is is a dead Yankee. (Modification of a saying attributed to General Phil Sheridan, "The only good Indian is a dead Indian," which is not a correct quote and Sheridan denied having said it.)

The Babe, Joe Dom. Mickey Mantle. Lou Gehrig, in that order. This is from an outside perspective. I am a Yankee hater.

I still like Roger Maris. I recall one game at Fenway where he had what was the best individual performance I have even seen. The Red Sox beat the Yankees 7-5 in the game. Maris (as I remember) drive in all the Yankee runs with 2 HRs and a sac fly and made a bunch of great plays in the field : two great catches and another that wasn't great only by comparison to the other two - and two great throws from the outfield. I think it would have been about 12-0 without Maris.

I'd have to say the Babe but a good case can be made for Mo.
