but there's no way I could root for Duke! Kansas by two with 15 minutes left!

What's wrong with Kansas?

I have no trouble rooting for them over Duke.
1. They're further West.
2. My mother was a teacher and counselor in the Philadelphia Public Schools, and a number of her students followed the basketball pipeline out to Lawrence. (Wilt Chamberlin and Wayne Hightower were two that I specifically recall, and there were several others. I knew a couple of these guys and have had a weak rooting interest in Kansas since.

Actually, that should read "What's the Matter With Kansas?" - which is the title of an essay by William Allen White written in 1896, attacking William Jennings Bryan and the populist movement. I tried to do it from memory and got the title wrong.

I hate Kansas because of what their fans said about us when we were both recruiting and when we ultimately landed Phillip McDonald. They called us a bunch of crap. I lost all respect for them then.
