"Does the Big East deserve their AQ status?" College Gamedays FB Question

    First Post Banner

First an 8-4 Connecticut. Now, potentially a 7-5 Louisville....Going to a BCS Bowl.

Does the Big East deserve their AQ status?

    Bye-Bye Big East Bid?
Charlie Strong's Cardinals could make a BCS Bowl with a 7-5 record.By: College GameDay

umm no. they didnt deserve it from the get go. They only met 2-3 criteria and recieved a conditional bid, with taht being said, the MWC doesnt deserv one either, but we should get one on the same basis. That is if the BCS continues in its current form.

Ya mean the conference whose highest ranking in the BCS is 22nd with a team they mayl soon lose (West Virginia)? No wonder they keep trying to steal Mountain West teams who are much better than any team the Big Flop has offered in years. (and no wonder the best Mountain West teams are willing to make the move. A team could lose 4-5 games and still get a big-time BCS payday. How many seasons has it taken for TCU and Boise to lose that many games?)

It really doesnt matter in the big picture though. The head of the BCS was on the Sports Animal today and he said that there is no process for losing an AQ status... meaning that no matter what the BE does they are an AQ conference. If the MWC were to gain AQ status they would simply just be the 7th conference with AQ status. To me that opens a Pandora's box. What happens if say CUSA and the WAC also somehow earn AQ status? Then there are 9 leagues with AQ status with only 8 slots available... or what if the MWC gets the AQ, they cant lose it either, but lets say we have a situation like this year where the top 3 SEC teams are well ahead of the MWC champion in the BCS standings, but the MWC team gets the bid over the other SEC teams because of the AQ status.

The only way the BCS bust is if UCLA wins the Pac-12 championship.

I say a 16 team playoff-11 conference champs and 5 at large bids.

There are actually 10 spots available. Orange, Sugar, Fiesta, Rose, and the National Championship Game.

Of course not. The fix is in and has been since the beginning, and will be 'till the end. The goal-posts will continue to be moved, even out onto the 12 yard-line if necessary -- UNTIL there is concerted action by those who CAN level the playing field. The US Congress. 'Course they are fixed as well, so that is quite unlikely to work. Fixers don't ordinarily do the right, ethical or moral thing and... fix things. Too, there aren't any watchers watching the Watchers. By design. Media used to do it a little, back when we had a semblance of sports reporting, as opposed to shills shilling the hell out of the system that pays them to do exactly that. Cynical? Maybe, maybe not.
