I think they talked about him being ranked 4th in the US. Unfortunately only 3 make the Olympic team. He's still got a few months to continue to improve - I'm pretty sure he's the youngest of the 4 top US decathletes.
Curtis seems just a bit light (he's only about 20-21 years old). Adding a little more muscle mass/explosiveness to improve his Sprints and Throwing events is probably what he needs to improve on most. He's world class at running 400 meters to 1500 meters. He jumps well and vaults well. If not for the decathlon, he probably would have been an elite intermediate distance runner.
Luckily for him, the rankings mean nothing once they get to the US Track & Field Trials in June/July --- he's got lots of room for improvement (as you stated Roob).
He beat his own WORLD record in the 1,000 meters. I think he could take one of those three spots.
