Mid 7th to undrafted free agent. As great as he was at the colliegate level, his skill set doesnt really translate to the NFL level. He will get a few invites as an undrafted free agent. The ILB poition is not as coveted as the OLB, due to the versatility of the positon.

I'm hoping around the fourth round, but that's just a stab in the dark. The scouts that showed up for UNM's pro day were raiders and cardinals scouts. The number of picks those two teams have might be useful.

Since he worked out at Northwestern's Pro Day too....never count out the bears....

I respectfully disagree. His skillset is that he's a freaking tackling machine. Last time I checked, tackling is important in the game of football. Dude's got a nose for the ball.

I think he will be a FA... which might be better. He can go to a team in need and sign.

I think he will be a free agent. I wish him the best. With his heart and work ethic, he has a good shot.

Undrafted free agent, but he will surprise people when he gets to camp....someone looking for a run stopping specialist would love him.

Journal quoted his agent as expecting him to be a free agent, but definitely to be picked up for a camp. His speed was the problem, and something that can only be really assessed by putting him on the field with NFL players.

I will be absolutely shocked if he gets drafted. UFA, and hopefully make a team as a special teams player.

    Probably a UFA.

He's limited into what scheme he fits into. He's a MLB in a 43 defense. But he is very good in that role.

He'll get into someone's camp and impress them. I could see him being a nice special teamer too.

I personally would love to see him play for a team like the ravens or redskins where he could learn from flecher or lewis because those guys are tackling machines. But it wouldn't be too bad to see him learn from urlacher or matthews from the packers either. Whoever, gets him will be glad they did and i will continue to follow his career

He's slow. That is part of his skill set. Disagree all you want, just don't be surprised when he doesn't get drafted.

I saw them take a linebacker from Miami that was smaller than Messina and at his 40 time (4.7 roughly).

Why, oh why, oh why, oh why didn't he get a combine invite?!

I think the Cardinals will pick him up. They are in need of a linebacker.

Free agent....NFL is an athlete's league now...Messina may have missed his boat by about 25 years...would have been All Pro for Staubach's Cowboys.

pretty sad we have zero players on the NFL combine "draftable players" list. Lucas Reed looked like a future AA his frosh year and 3 years under Lox didn't do him any favors.

Hopefully, this will all change under Davie.

UNM football is like post-war (WWII) Europe, forget standard measures (draft picks, win-loss forecasts, offense/deffense stats), we are down to just having enough players to legitimately field a team. Bob Davie is the Marshall plan - send cheese!!
