I just got word from a very reliable source that coach Sanchez got a commitment from a player tonight. All I know is she is from Dallas, and coach was really excited about it. From what I understood she will be in this class of 2012. I am trying to get more info, if I do I will post it ASAP.
That is exciting news! Post again when you have more info for sure.
Time to start rumors: It's a 6'8" point guard who has been playing in Egypt the past 3 years. She shoots 78.5% from 3 point range and averages 12.3 assists a game! She played Labron James 1-on-1 and beat him 21-3.
Actually, I hope it istrue and that the player is a great player & person. But I also hope we don't go overboard with disecting who it might be or whether it's the perfect fit. If she wants to be here and the staff thinks she'll fit in, that's good for me.
You forgot the rebounds....33 per game.
Just a couple names to be curious about that I have not seen committed yet-unless I just haven't seen, maybe if there is info someone knows I can be corrected-are Brea Mitchell from Plano. Lauren Price from Humble(is that Dallas area??) is another well thought of player I'm not sure has signed yet. Sounds like both are wings around 5'10, 11. If it's one of them or whever she may be, as Ray said, we should here early next week
Humble, I believe, is in the Houston area...and a quick search seems to eliminate Lauren Price as the mystery person:

Don't we have enough wings already?
How many wings will you have AFTER next year?
BTW, there was one gal that decommitted from UT and took an unofficial visit to TCU, Candace Adams:

Considering our need at pg, would be a great pick-up.
Presently, the Lobos have 3 scholarships open. In addition, they will graduate 4 players after the 2012-2013 season. That means coach Sanchez has 7 scholarships to play with. Anyway, along with a few freshmen, I look for a long list of successful and talented D-1 transfers to join the Lobo program.

They announced that J. Parker is leaving the team. Haven't heard either way on Muraida.
Also, a minor correction - Brown will just be a sophomore next year. Since she is our only wing in the lower two classes, and we already have a verbal from a post and point guard for the following year's recruiting class, we definitely need to be recruiting wings for the future.
Sorry I haven't been able to get any info. I was supposed to see Yvonne yesterday, and was going to see if I could get some more details. Unfortunately I ended up in Santa Fe all day, and didn't have time to see her. :-( I'll see if I can get some info this week.
According to the Journal - 5'9 guard from Texas.
Next years freshmen now include 6-3 Jordyn Peacock, 6-1 Khadijah Shumpert, 5-4 Bryce Owens and now 5-9 Brea Mitchell
"She's a nice 3-point shooter with a quick release," according to coach Sanchez. She didn't play much this past year because of an eligibility issue with Texas high school transfer rules. So she's a bit under the radar.
The article also said we probably won't sign anyone else for next year. That means we will only have one true point guard once again.

FWIW, ESPN grade of 88.

Good call ldlbfn!
We had heard that name before.
Welcome, Brea!
I like the description "strong."
May not be a true point guard, but her passing skills are impressive.
A frosh pg at that. Appears this new gal can handle the ball, so although not a true pg, will definitely help against full court pressure. If we can alleviate that one problem alone, cutting out all the unneccary TO's just bringing the ball upcourt, it could save us 4-8 points per game alone.

This was another must. A player who can create her own shot off the dribble.Physically strong guard. Smooth and attacking with solid ball skills. One on one she can create both her own looks as well as passes to set up her teammates. Utilizes the pull up as well as an ability to finish around the rim.
BTW, Plano West is a D1 pipeline. Several players have come from there, including Jacqueline Jeffcoat (OU) and Kat and Kristen Nash (UT) recently along with a guard or 2 that went to Arkansas.
Sounds like a very solid spring pick-up!![]()

On the video she shows good court sense and awareness as well as being unselfish....nice pick up for the lobas!!
almost as important as the signing is the fact that we signed one from there...credibility gain...BTW, Plano West is a D1 pipeline
'...the Pit is just God awful uncomfortable for a visiting team.'
...he yells, "No one comes to the hoop now, Melvin. No one!", Harv Schmidt to Mel Daniels
“They’re loud and they get on you. They know everything about you. They know your mom’s name.”, jimmer fredette.
...Bobby Knight was screaming at his starters for being late. "We're getting our #!&$@$ kicked! Because you were late!".

highlight films are funny that way...nobody ever misses a shot, makes a bad pass, or gets blocked... just being a smartass...bet your boots that Yvonne knows a baller when she sees one.
That's why I like the Jordyn Peacock highlight films. They show the hits and the misses and the times she gets her pocket picked. But I can also see the hustle and athleticism and immense potential.
I also loved the Brea Mitchell film. Highlight or no highlight, she looks tough and strong and very savvy.
if all stay healthy, should be in good shape on the wings. Sara, Caroline, Brea, Anteisha in December. Khadija and Jordyn adding depth at 4 and 5. I can see this being a frosh class that gets good PT. Like the Molly, Susan, Kristy class. Those three saw lots of time as freshmen.
