Finally! The Winrock Mall renovation is slated to break ground

This is a dated article, but I did hear on one of the local newscasts that they would be breaking ground any day now with four new tenants to open for business by or before next fall:

* An Imax movie theater
* Dave and Buster's adult arcade restaurant, bar and games
* Ghengis Grill Mongolian stir fry restaurant
* BJ brew house and restaurant

These to go along with new two story Target will pump in some new money and some new energy into this congested area and I for one am excited to see some new stuff in town.

Winrock update: The decrepit White Winrock hotel is coming down today in a smoking heap of rubble and the ground breaking will officially commence:

Truly hate to see that White Winrock get blasted, blast it!

Used to take dates over there. It was often all very much like that scene in "The Graduate," where Benjamin (D Hoffman) approaches the desk-clerk and, when asked if he has any luggage, he pats his front jacket pocket and says he's fine, he's got his toothbrush. lol

Tho, not so many of my dates looked like Mrs Robinson's daughter Elaine, played by that wide-eyed Lovely, Katharine Ross.

Well, hate to see it go, same way with the old Western Skies (also a favorite, along with Beaver Town down the road), tho by far the most painful de-construction was the Alvarado Hotel and Train Station.

"Progress" is not always for the better, what can you do?
