Off the top of my head I would say the win over Arizona when they were #1 and if I am not mistaken that team went on to win the NC.
I remember a Colson team winning a road game against UCLA but don't remember if they were ranked.
A win over a I believe #4 ranked Majerus led Utah team.
The win Alfords team had over TAMU in what was basically a home game for them.... Lobos blew them out.
Didn't the Lobos beat a Tark led UNLV in the PIT that had Theus playing for them? What year was that?
Best win was our win over Lute when they were Number 1...yessir...that was the game
1111
Then two games later, UNM knocked off #5 Wyoming. That was quite a week in Lobo history.
Jupiter Out
GO LOBOS!!
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!
The last game UNM played against UNLV was in 78-79 season. We ended the series at that time because the Lobos were just got rocked by a scandal and we did not want/need to associate with programs were perceived as sleazy.
The Az game on 2 Jan 1988 was easily the best win in the history of the program.
The win against UCLA came at Pauley pavillion and UCLA was ranked #2 in the country at the time.. I think it was 1982.

The win versus UCLA was during the 1983-84 season. Just prior to that game, UNM beat Washington. I might be wrong but I believe Detlef Schremp was on that Husky team.

The irony was we beat the Number 1 Arizona, the Number 4 Wyoming the same week, win 25 games and Gary Colson still gets fired. On top of that we had Luc Longley playing and Matt Othick sharpshooter from Nevada and future NBA star Brian Williams ready to commit to Colson and the Lobos. They both eventually signed with Arizona. Oh the thought of what could of been!
actually the #1 ua win was in 88, and the win over the eventual champ ua was in 97. one interesting note: from 97 to 99 we had a 2-2 record against teams playing in the national championship game ( wins against ua, and utah) (losses against utah and uconn)

we went into UNLV and won breaking their home winning streak over Tark !! think it was 98 straight or something like that. Az. close 2nd

January 19, 1980. Harrison's walkons beat San Diego State.
For the younger crowd/the Steve Alford-era, the win in Provo vs. No. 12 BYU was the signature win of the past decade.

yeah i remember Charlie Harrison's win, haha the Pit was KRAZY when Charlie's team played HARD !!
In my time as a lobo fan, it'd have to be the game against BYU when butta made that half court shot going into the half. Place was on fire. Man to think butta could of been on last years squad (medical redshirt two seasons ago, came back and played last season). Teaming him with everyone would of been INSANE.
I think so. You should know what you're talking about before you try to call someone out. I lived in the DC area during that period and I remember how stoked everyone was when he signed with Maryland. Check out the last player listed under other notables>

The win over a # 1 ranked Arizona in the Pit....Lute went ballistic and said the clock didn't start when the Lobos brought the ball in....Lobo guard(can't remember who) drove the length of the court for the lay in.....,what a game !
Brian Williams played for Maryland as a freshman then was going to transfer here to play with his buddy Matt Othick who played his freshman and sophomore seasons at Highland High school before moving to Las Vegas. They were going to be teamates here. Unfortunately Colson got fired after winning 25 games. He beat the number 1, 5 and 13 ranked teams in the country and still got canned by a con artists of an AD who later was convicted of fraud here at UNM and at Illinois. The guy claimed to have Bobby Knight in his back pocket and we ended up with Bliss.

Was it the transfer from TCU? Don't quite remember his name. Great game.

Remember too that Brian Williams went out to sea a couple of years ago and was never seen again. Stories out there that one of his friends may pushed him overboard off of a boat oversees.

Three different games. The game against #1 Arizona was in 1983 and Lobos blocked a shot at the end. The game Walker scored at the buzzer was in the late 80s at the Pit. The game Hannah scored on a put back was Fraschilla's first year (even a blind squirrel...). All great games, all different games, all Lobo wins!
I just looked it up, as I remember the UCLA game very well but couldn't remember the Washington game.
The Lobos beat Washington 54-53 in the Pit on December 3rd, 1983. Exactly one week later at Pauley Pavilion the Lobos upset 7th ranked UCLA 65-60. That, of course, was back in a time when UCLA just didn't lose at home--especially to unranked non-conference teams.
