Well, it appears the MWC loses ground by losing SDSU and BYU. That is depressing.
But, what I like is that the MWC is still better in basketball than the Big West or the WCC. Time will tell about whether their football teams are in better situations than UNM or not.
Very interesting stuff but it doesn't tell the whole story. For example, how will Utah State and Fresno State improve hoops'wise once they move to a better hoops conference with a larger pay day? One of my personal battles I fight daily and one that I'm losing ground on is my desire to keep BYU out of the MWC as an olympic sports only member. When it orginally went down I never would have guessed that just a short year or so later I'd be willing to even consider that notion. Right now I think it would really help strenghthen our conference in all other sports, help with television and advertising and allow some MW schools to schedule them in football as well. We told them no in anger but now we might just need to beg them back.
The one thing that really jumps out at me from a statistical standpoint is that MWC has been consistent. The other thing....I would like to see the actual team win percentages graphed together like he did then sub-categorized into the conference. I bet when its all said and done, since we essentially took the top off the WAC, that the MWC will still maintain its consistency. wew not be as strong as the A10 going forward....but all it takes is for UNM to continue its winning ways as well as UNLV and a few others to step up and I bet we will come out as a pretty darn strong basketball leauge.
