Side is retired. Lobos down to their last 3 outs. 7-1, UCLA. Bruins have 17 hits, stranded 11 guys on base.
Just another jackpot. Ain't nothing new.
DJ gets a single with two outs. Mainly, it keeps his hitting streak alive at 11 games.
Just another jackpot. Ain't nothing new.
Game over. 7-1 Bruins. ... Lobos play Creighton at 4 p.m. new mexico time Sunday. ... If Lobos win, play UCLA at, I believe, 8 p.m.
Just another jackpot. Ain't nothing new.
And I'm leaving work now to catch my supermarket before it closes. We'll win tomorrow. I hope we have enough left in the tank to deal with UCLA tomorrow night. Go Lobos !
Just another jackpot. Ain't nothing new.
do the lobos have enough pitching for two games tomorrow...
'...the Pit is just God awful uncomfortable for a visiting team.'
...he yells, "No one comes to the hoop now, Melvin. No one!", Harv Schmidt to Mel Daniels
“They’re loud and they get on you. They know everything about you. They know your mom’s name.”, jimmer fredette.
...Bobby Knight was screaming at his starters for being late. "We're getting our #!&$@$ kicked! Because you were late!".
My first LOBO baseball game ever...at least I don't ever remember going to one when I lived in ABQ. So I made a decision to make my first one an NCAA game. Jackie Robinson Stadium is nice for a college venue, but apparently there are better fields in the PAC -- read a rather unflattering article about it on Rivals.
The first thing I notice is the price -- $15 bucks a pop, and that's after $10 bucks for parking, but that gets me a nice seat down the third base line right behind the UNM dugout. Small but vocal contingent of LOBO fans there, but they don't have much to get excited about as the Bruin pitcher has a perfect game going into the bottom of the fifth.
Pre-game the team looked relaxed, but not overly excited. They looked like they had been here (the tourney) before. UCLA batters start hitting our guy early -- and don't do much. That one DJ fly out was back to the track -- I thought it was gonna go...but, no stogie.
Not real impressed with our SS -- I thought they attacked him pretty well -- he lopes, and I thought a shorter, PeeWee Reese type might have made a couple plays he didn't, but I haven't followed baseball regularly in 40 years, so what do I know?
Anyway, I left in the bottom of the 6th...didn't look like it was UNM's night, plus, I had to drive home on the 405, which can be worse on the weekends (especially with all the major construction going on) than it is on weekdays.
So, I'm guessing we play Creighton now, and if we win, face UCLA again??
