I hope you are correct, but the reality is one should never put too much faith in rumore, hints, 5th hand "sure things", etc. If and when a player shows up, wonderful! But fans of all teams have jumped the gun based upon a "well placed source", just to be very disapointed later.

But then I guess a wait-and-see attitude is counter to being a fan ;)

No, it actually goes back a lot longer than that! ;)

And it was a comment about fans all over, not just in NM--from watching them self-destruct when the prospect they were "sure" was coming, didn't.

There was a HUGE meltdown at Duke a few years ago. They were convinced Harrison Barnes was all but officially signed and they were taunting UNC fans about it--then Barnes went to UNC instead. I suspect at least a dozen Duke fans lept off the tallest building they could find at that time.

Uno is pretty close to the UNM staff....actually close....not fake close like Yakka. Look, stuff happens, but his sources and info was legit.

Uno Knows. I think the timing of the announcements to back up his statements is what's causing all the squabbling. The important take away is not who will be here on the 1st day of classes this year. The important takeaway is that he has seen the big fish that coach Sanchez has hooked, but not yet landed in terms of announcing a formal commit. She's got a couple of big ones on the line and is getting ready to place the net in the water to bring them on board.

Uno is sharing his excitement. He's seeing the early signs that coach Sanchez is getting on a roll in the recruiting game - something that is a break through for the UNM program, something that he has unique insight into. Accept his comments for what they are - a sign of good things to come. Don't get hung up on the details of who's here on August 20th versus who signs in the early signing period in November. Sometime between now and next January, we should start seeing the actions that support his highly positive reports.

There is another surprise player that may land at UNM....transfer from a BIGTIME Program
Considering UNM....coach Sanchez will assemble a very very talented team in short order the likes UNM has never had before...I am A believer!

I posted before about Dawhawn Harden transferring from Oklahoma, wondering if she might have interest here. I have not really done much news looking, so don't know if she has made a decision anywhere. Another recent transfer from a program you can't get any more bigtime than is UCONN. 5'11 Lauren Engelin from Laguna Hills, CA left Geno's squad a few weeks ago-again I have not done any checking so don't know if she has landed anywhere yet.

Obviously either of them would be a very big time player. Not saying we shouldn't take them on board if they are interested, but we sure could use a couple in the 6'3"+ range.

...posted before about Dawhawn Harden transferring from Oklahoma...
if she was here when the lobos played oklahoma in the pit and saw the atmosphere, she might have been impressed...
'...the Pit is just God awful uncomfortable for a visiting team.'

...he yells, "No one comes to the hoop now, Melvin. No one!", Harv Schmidt to Mel Daniels

“They’re loud and they get on you. They know everything about you. They know your mom’s name.”, jimmer fredette.

...Bobby Knight was screaming at his starters for being late. "We're getting our #!&$@$ kicked! Because you were late!".

I hope she grew some more and is coming to UNM, just to keep both ya happy!

I agree, we need a big post player, a true center type, perhaps it will be a Longly from all we are getting hinted on! LOL At the same time, if you have a shot at a great player, you gotta take!

I am hoping for good things to come!

As far as the time frame, it really doesn't bother me at all (not knowing what the news is). Even should we know, judgement can't be made imho. It will show its way onto the court and Yvonne needs to have time to develop the program with her touch. I do hope we see good improvement this year, that is about all I am asking! :-)

There have been repeated references to seeing who will be on campus the first day of school because, supposedly, UNM can't comment on late signees before then. Not true. If a school, and Washington and NMSU among the schools I follow have done so this summer, signs a player to a "Financial Aid Agreement" after the Letter of Intent period ends, they can publicize the signing. And at no point is the prospective student-athlete ever prohibited from announcing their commitment to their hometown paper, twitter account, etc. Therefore, I would think if there are any monster "fish" in the boat for this season, they would already be known.

If the reference is to commitments for 2013 or 2014 that could be different since the PSA might not be 100 percent sure so is holding off on announcing and, yes, in the case of future signees the university cannot comment.

Thank you. Your interpretation is consistent with the fact that Utah State announced earlier this summer that Australian S. Bairstow will be enrolling at USU this fall and playing this year. Interestingly, they announced two other players at the same time and said that their roster for 2013 was complete.

Why is that interesting? Because UNM hasn't officially announced that Ebony Walker is on the team even though they legally could have several weeks ago. That makes me think that they are waiting for the 2013 roster to be complete (however many that is) before they announce it. Maybe she's the only addition, but if so, why the wait? It seems to me that there is at least the distinct possibility of more names appearing on the 2013 roster. While August 20th is not a magic date for UNM to make some announcement, it is close to the deadline for completing the roster.

The 2014 roster is another story. UNM can't comment on any of those players until November at the earliest.

    misread something, deleted post

Ok, double checked something. Maybe Lido with his Stanford connections might know something. Sara Boothe, a 6'5 post, is not on Stanford's roster. I believe she has graduated, but if I see things correctly, she may have one year of eligibility left. She has had foot problems, graduated, maybe she is not going to play her final year?? Stanford had another player in a similar situation a couple years ago, the young lady played her final year of elifibilty at Utah. So just wondering, taking a shot in the dark, if this could be the transfer from a big time school. If it is, would work nicely. 6'5, one year of eligibilty...

Best part, if she has already graduated, she wouldn't have to sit out the one year either and be eligible immediatley. Can she medically play or still injured or recovering?

Unfortunately, I do not know much more than anyone else about Sara Boothe. Although she was listed as a redshirt junior this past year, her profile page does indicate that she graduated. I'm guessing that she's applied to and/or been accepted into a graduate program elsewhere (unlike most universities, being an undergrad at Stanford can be a disadvantage for Stanford Graduate Program acceptance) or has moved onto the next chapter of her life. Good luck to her!

This is the part where Unoloco bursts into this forum and in his best Jesse Pinkman imitation, barks out "You were saying, B*TCHES?!!!"

But Uno is too modest to do something that low class. I would never do that either.

Above are two quotes where he provides info to the forum. Since the tip about the "possible" transfer from a "BIGTIME PROGRAM" is much later than the other post, I read it as the transfer would be in addition to the "BIG NEWS"... related to 2 other players coming to UNM. So, I am looking forward to soon hearing more "BIG NEWS".
