Seriously? At home? They finish 18th in RPI, win the SEC, and send three guys to the NBA and lose their entire team and THEN we get them on the schedule? What is with our scheduling luck?
Great game though. There is not a lot of room left on the schedule for the Longwoods of the world. Going to be a strong schedule this year.
Vandy? I thought it was Valpo....
Maybe it was Valpo.... I know this. It starts with a V.

It's Valpo. Not Vandy.
Like I said. Started with a V. I'm hardly ever wrong.

So, that's 23 (non-exempt) regular season games, meaning we can schedule 4 more.
I've heard in the past that UNM basically needs 18 home games for budget purposes. Right now we only have 11 scheduled. Assuming we'll have 2 exhibition games as usual, that brings us to 13. That means that our 4 remaining games to be scheduled must be at home just to get us to 17 this year (2 exhibition, 15 regular season). Hopefully we'll one more BCS/quality mid major, but I'm assuming those 4 will be buy games.
Valpo ain't great, but theyre an RPI Top 100 team. Should be good for the schedule. Of potential NC opponents, NMSU, UConn, Iona, Valpo, and George Mason should all be top 100. Mercer, Indiana St. and possibly Quinninpiac should be top 150. Cinci and St Louis should both be top 50 if not top 25.
Thats 1 top 150, 5 top 100 (potentially), and 2 top 50 games. Last year we had 2 top 150, 2 top 100, and 1 top 50 games in NC. When you take away the scrubs that we would play instead, it will make a huge difference in RPI. I've always argued that our RPI suffers because of the teams we play in the 200s and 300s rather than not scheduling UNC.
We will also play two fewer NC games this year becauses of the expanded MWC. Thats two fewer scrubby opponents and only 4 remaining games to fill on the NC schedule.

USC should be quality game this year. cant be much worse than last year...even though they gave us a run for our money
USC's rpi was in the 200's last year, so let's hope they've been hustling in the offseason.
USC has 4 transfers and Jio Fontan eligible. They'll be much better on talent alone.
They might be in the top 100 based on reputation at the beginning of the year, but they sure have a lot of holes in their roster. You never know though....

South Dakota State is a decent opponent. In the tourney last year. Program on the rise that is much better than the other Dakota schools weve played in the past.

That isn't bad so far. At last we've heard of Valpo and Davidson before. NMSU and USC should be fun.
Hey, Mark, any clues from Frank on the last 2 games? Or when they might release the news? Did Jaime ever get back to you?
