Anyone seen Mark? He is vacationing in Vegas watching these games. Well I think that's what he said he was doing.

Drew seems to be frustrated with himself. I'm sure the swollen eye is contributing, but it seems like the pace of the game is causing him problems on offense too.

Drew definitely needs to work on conditioning to keep up with the speed of the NBA game.

Keep the updates coming, as NBATV blows by cutting off coverage and wanting to charge a separate fee so I can watch online. I pay for this effin' channel, I should get these games lives in my area!

I agree. Also he has been passing up jumpers and trying to drive. He needs to take the open jumper when he gets it and shoot it with confidence.

Drew is playing against smaller guys so he needs to work on his speed. He also needs more confidence. I am positive he will improve, and I believe Dallas wants him to play as well. They gave him plenty of minutes.

Drew was the only player with the Mavs that played but didn't score...

Kind of a bummer. You want to show "some" offense. You can't be a complete void on that end of the court.

According to the stats he had the fourth most minutes for Dallas. They want to play him, he just needs to produce.

That pace and offense does not compliment a player like Drew... Maybe if it was more open to fast breaks

I didn't see the game but I'd be just as worried about only 4 rebounds and 5 fouls in 21 minutes. That's not a very promising statline.

0 pts, 4 reb, 1 ast is not gonna get Drew on a roster. Probably won't even land him on a D League squad. Drew needs to step it up.

At the NBA level you gotta be to be willing to pull the trigger quickly and knockdown the 15-20 foot jumper consistently. It's only his first game, and he looked pretty tentative and hesitant out there. I'm confident he'll settle down and play much better than tonight.

One reason the Mavs kept Erica Dampier around longer than anyone thought possible is his ability to set some pretty mean screens to get both Jet and Dirk open looks.

If you noticed, they had Drew setting a lot of high screens, which is the bread and butter of Dirk's offense. I wouldn't count Drew out just yet, but he needs to really improve defensively. Seems he got blown by a couple times.

May just need a year or two to develop his speed and skill set.

Maybe we could wait to see what he does in the rest of the games before making our armchair judgements.

Maybe that's what message boards are for...

I hope Drew gets some chances on the low block and in transition because that's where he shined at UNM. His jump shot has always been streaky to say the least.

My problem is he had at least 2 or 3 open looks at jumpers and passed them up and tried to drive to the hoop. He took one 3 because the shot clock was at 1 sec and didn't have a choice and the other jumper he missed was at the college 3 pt line and he hesitated to shoot it. I don't think either team fed the post at all and the guards took the bulk of the shots. I would hope the Dallas coaches try to feed the post or run more pick and rolls with Drew. Also I would like to see him try and chase down more rebounds out of his area as that is where he is likely to make his mark. I really think it was probably just some first game jitters and a little rust perhaps. Let's hope he can turn it around the next game.

If you watched yesterday's game in it's entirety, they interviewed coach Carlisle on the telecast and had mentioned they will find a spot for Jae Crowder on the roster (duh), but when asked about Gordon was very non-committal.

He basically said, guys like this tend to find a way into the league with his tenacity and toughness, but it's a numbers game. They discuss drew starting at the 6:53 mark of the 2nd quarter in this first game if you have it on DVR.

It's a guy we like, but we'll see what the numbers game is going to be on our team, but he'll end up in the league. (meaning, they are still active in the free agent market and not sure who else will make the team and if he doesn't make it with Dallas, someone will take a chance on him)

Safe to say, even though Harrison is starting there is no way in heck he makes the team.

Drew needs to show something offensively if he wants to make the team. I like his screen setting yesterday, but needs to make some buckets and get more boards.

Just wondering, if Drew takes a year to work on his offensive game over in Europe? Even if he makes an NBA roster, he's so raw offensively, he won't see much pt.

I can't find today's game on TV anywhere either??? I guess you have to subscribe to the online version to get the game?

I had the same thoughts on the Coach Carisle interview. I think Drew really needs to show that he can hit the open jumper and play stronger defense. He isn't going to be a go to scorer in the NBA but he needs to be able to take advantage of the open looks he gets. I can see him playing a Udonis Haslem type role if he can get a consistent jumper.

yep, Drew got into the game in the 1st qtr.

Drew had the exact play that he needed to make if he wants to make this team. Dallas down 19-13, gets the offensive rebound from a missed FT by a Dallas player by outtipping and out-hustling the guy guarding him. He then secures the ball on the baseline and fires a pass up top to Jae Crowder who then immediately knocked in a 3 point shot. Dallas then got a TO on the other end and got a transition dunk.

Mavs built a 24-21 lead at the end of the 1st qtr that all started with Drew's hustle play on that offensive rebound off the missed FT. Those are the plays Edwardo Najera used to make and the type of plays Drew will need to make in order to stick on the team.

    Yes, Drew finally scored!!!

    http://twitter.com/EKS_MavsNBA/

Why can't they show the replay at 5am or whatever??? No replay on this game. If anyone can find it, please post.
