Lobo Stadium --- Fan experience this season

So we are finally getting the artificial turf, which means the field will look better, not rock-hard dirt with loose grassy patches. yeah team!

What do you think needs to be improved (off the field) to make the fan experience better?

here are mine:
FOOD --- why oh why can't we get decent food at the concessions? We need authentic New Mexican food, green chili cheeseburgers, burritos, churros, stuff like that, as well as maybe even some specialty foods. Hotdogs and hamburgers, okay, but we need MORE selection and better options!
Even HAWAII has better concessions - from their website: "In addition to traditional stadium refreshments, Aloha Stadium features an array of worldwide dishes to satisfy every taste bud. This includes Hawaiian, Mexican, Italian, Cajun, Japanese, Greek, Chinese, American and other cuisines at concession stands throughout the facility. "

SOUND SYSTEM --- the music this past season was vastly improved. I guess my threat to climb up and rip the speakers out if they played YMCA one more time worked. BUT we need better! The announcers voice is garbled much of the time.

VIDEO SYSTEM --- We have GOT to do something better than that one crappy little screen with blown out spots. A new Video Screen at each end of field would be minimum required, but I also think we need some video screens out in the concession area, much like inside the PIT.

SUN SHADE - The concession area should really be under a roof of some sort! Last season we had several games that were so scorching hot people were huddling in corners and under the 1 tree to find shade. Then we had the rain come down and delay game with people leaving because there was no place to avoid getting wet except the restrooms (which were hot). A nice permanent structure over the concession areas would solve both problems.


So what do you think would help the FAN experience.... and Please don't talk about the team winning as we have a million threads discussing that. Let's talk about the STADIUM here, and what would encourage people to stay the whole game whether team is winning or not.

I never want to see that Cheers scene or that scene from Hoosiers played on the video board again. I'll also volunteer myself to be the replay guy aka press rewind guy, we need a new one desperately.

A larger band would help with the game day atmosphere. Another experience that needs some tinkering is reagrding student participation. I believe that we need to devise some type of a strategy to incorporate the students better while becoming more student-friendly. Also, we need more of a college environment. It really drives me nuts when I attempt to watch a game and some idiot behind me seems like he more interested in fighting some other local gang member.

Tailgating: We first need to improve the tailgating experience. I say bring back the overnight parking! The traffic also needs to flow around the stadium and CLEAR directions on where to park. I always park in the same lot and last year at the NMSU game, it was declared full, yet there was a ton of space available. very frustrating! It is great that the band goes through the tailgate areas - but I also liked it when Rocky let the boys march through the area. It helped with fan excitement. We need to make it fun for the whole family. The last two years, there were no give aways or "bounce houses" for the young kids. We need to build excitement! (and yes I do realize that winning will help!)

Sound System: YES! YES! YES! It needs to be upgraded. We need to be able to hear! Fix the speakers!

Video Board/Score Board: Instant replay would be great - but so would the scrolling of other game scores.

I totally agree about the students.
Free tickets for students should be incentive enough to show up every game! I had to pay for a ticket pkg when I was a student back east, and stand in really really long lines to pick up my weekly ticket. It was a hassle but we didn't care, we cared about our TEAM. I just don't get why students here are so negative and lazy.
The HOWL RAISERS say they are going to bring in the students, but I have yet to see it happen. The only game last year with good participation was the NMSU game, and most of the students were drunk off their butts in the parking lot, getting arrested or dancing, then went home before game was half over. Pathetic!!!

Band.... gimme a break. The Lobo marching band is a joke. They learned 1 whole song last year, then stand still on the field and play it over and over each week. Pathetic. And they get PAID to be in the band here.... really pathetic. What happened to school spirit??

I would also love to see scrolling scores from other games! We need a bigger scoreboard for that to work effectively though. They did it for a few scores last season, and even got some wrong. It was an epic fail. My husband got on his phone to check scores for us, and that is how we found the error posted on our scoreboard!!! Sad sad sad.
